Beautiful Bastard by Christina Lauren

Questa seconda recensione sul blog non è un errore, ma la mia recensione, dopo aver ricevuto il consiglio dalla mia amica Amyra entusiasta di questo libro.

Non capisco bene dove siano potuti sorgere gli accostamenti a Twilight, a parte i capelli scompigliati di Bennet Ryan, il protagonista, non ho trovato nessuna possibile similitudine con la storia della Meyer, anzi... Certo le due autrici del racconto, che utilizzano il pen- name di Christina Lauren, sono fan della famosa saga di vampiri, ma tutto si ferma li'. 

Se proprio devo dire, forse, visto le performance erotiche molto hot tra Chloe e Bennet, richiamerei più alla memoria il film " Nove settimane e mezzo", ma anche questo richiamo non calza perfettamente.

Il libro racconta della relazione decisamente calda che si instaura tra un giovane e bellissimo uomo d'affari, Bennet Ryan, il Beautiful Bastard e la sua assistente Chloe.

Lui, oltre a essere un perfezionista giovane di successo, e' una persona abbastanza irritante e intimidatoria nei modi di fare; Chloe, che è amata da tutti e apprezzata per le sue notevoli capacità lavorative, viene scelta dal capo dell'azienda, padre di Bennet, per aiutarlo nel lavoro e soprattutto tenergli testa grazie alla sua professionalità e bravura.

Cane e gatto, tra battute e piccoli scontri, sul lavoro i due funzionano perfettamente, senza sopportare molto i relativi caratteri. A un certo punto scatta qualcosa e una linea viene sorpassata da Bennet, non riesce più a controllare l'attrazione fisica che prova nei confronti della ragazza e tra di loro nasce una relazione tumultuosa e intensa. Non ci sono limiti riguardo a luogo, occasione e opportunità.

Anche questo però cambia velocemente, a Bennet non basta avere Chloe per pochi attimi rubati, ma vuole qualcosa di più serio, ma per Chloe nascono i problemi. Questa relazione può rovinare tutto quello per cui sta studiando e si è impegnata, ha paura di essere vista come la solita arrampicatrice sociale, che va a letto con il capo per fare carriera, e non vuole che non vengano invece prese in considerazione le sue reali capacita'. La scelta tra le due cose per lei è inevitabile.

Il libro mi è piaciuto molto e se devo dire la verità, nonostante tutte le scene hot, lo trovo abbastanza realistico e verosimile. Voglio dire sui luoghi di lavoro, succede di tutto e di più, in alcuni ambienti si fa finta di non vedere, in altri il giorno dopo trovi sull'ascensore la lavagna del gossip con nomi e cognomi scritti a pennarello tipo bimbi dell'asilo.

Quello che ho apprezzato sono proprio le caratteristiche dei due personaggi: Bennet dopo un primo momento in cui è praticamente ossessionato da Chloe, va oltre, affronta la vera natura dei sentimenti e non si limita a sedare la sua passione. Chloe, invece, non e' la vittima innocente di un bruto che abusa della sua posizione, ma è una donna decisa, che affronta il desiderio che prova per il suo Beautiful Bastard e gli fa trovare pane per i suoi denti, battendolo al suo stesso gioco.

Unica critica, se così si può dire, è che gli va tutto un po' troppo liscio, ma a questo punto le complicazioni teniamocele nel mondo reale.

This second review on the blog is not an error, but my review, after receiving advice from my friend Amyra excited about this book.

I don't understand well where are the assimilations with Twilight, aside from the messed hairs of Bennet Ryan, the protagonist, I didn't find any possible similarity with the story of Meyer, indeed ... The two authors of the story, using the pen-name of Christina Lauren, are fans of the popular vampire saga, but everything stops there.

If I have to say, maybe, considering very hot sex between Chloe and Bennet, I would draw more to mind the movie "Nine and a half weeks", but even this is not socking recall perfectly.

The book tells of very hot relationship that develops between a young man and gorgeus businessman, Bennet Ryan, the Beautiful Bastard and his assistant Chloe.

He, along with being a successful young perfectionist, is a pretty intimidating and irritating person; Chloe, who is loved by all and appreciated for her high working capacity, was chosen by the head of the company, Bennet's father, to help him in his work and him in particular thanks to her professionalism and skills.

Dogs and cats, between jokes and small clashes, at work the two work perfectly, they don't like each other, but for business it's not an important thing. At one point something crosses a line. Bennet, can no longer control the physical attraction he feels towards the girl and among them it starts a tumultuous and intense relationship. There are no limits concerning the place, time and opportunity.

Even this, however, changes quickly, for Bennet is not enough to have Chloe for a few stolen moments, but he wants something more serious, but for Chloe this could be a problem. This relationship can ruin everything for her, she is studying for a degree and career, she's afraid of being seen as the usual social climber who sleeps with her boss to make career, and she doesn't want this. Instead she wants to be considered for her real capacity. The choice between the two things for Chloe is inevitable.

I really liked the book and if I must say the truth, despite all the hot scenes, I find it quite realistic and believable. I mean on workplaces, this relationship happens everyday, in some circles anyone pretends not to see, in others the next day are on the elevator are used as gpssip blackboard with names and surnames written by marker type as kindergarten children.

What I appreciated are the characteristics of the two characters: Bennet after a first moment, when he is practically obsessed with Chloe, goes beyond, tackles the true nature of his feelings and is not limited to quell his passion. Chloe, however, is not the innocent victim of a brute who abuses his position, but she's a resolute woman who tackles the desire she feels for his Beautiful Bastard and fight hard, she's food for his teeth, beating him at his own game.

Only criticism, if I can say so, is that it's all a little too smooth, but at this point we can keep complications in the real world.
