An Oath Broken by Diana Cosby (The Oath Trilogy #2)

An arranged marriage to a Scot? Unacceptable!

Lady Sarra Bellacote would sooner marry a dog than a countryman of the bloodthirsty brutes who killed her parents. And yet, despite—or perhaps because of—her valuable holdings, she is being dragged to Scotland to be wed against her will. Making matters worse, the knight hired to do the dragging is dark, wild, irresistible. And he, too, is disgustingly Scottish.

Giric Armstrong, Earl of Terrick, takes no pleasure in escorting a feisty English lass to her nuptial night. But the payment is good, and his tenants need to eat. Yet the trip will not be the simple matter he imagined. For Lady Sarra isn’t the only one determined to see her engagement fail. Men with darker motives want the wedding called off—even if they must kill the bride in the process.

Now, in close quarters with this beautiful Englishwoman, Terrick must fight his mounting desire, and somehow keep Sarra alive long enough to lose her forever to another man…

I really enjoyed reading "An Oath Broken" by Diana Cosby.
It's the first time I read an historical romance written by this author, and I found it very good.
The plot wasn't very original, but I really liked Giric and Sarra, the protagonists, their interactions and reactions towards each other, during their journey together, while Giric must accompany the woman by her future bridegroom.
Giric is a proud and courageous man, a skilled fighter, but also a careful person, who knows how to "read" people and go beyond their façade. He held back some important truths from Sarra, and sooner or later, as always happens, discovering hidden things  complicate situations, but otherwise I really loved him for how he acted with Sarra and especially I liked their fierce bickering.
And I liked Sarra too, because despite the difficulties she has encountered as a child, she grew up as a strong woman, she wanted to try to be independent and help people she cares for.
I love how Ms Cosby writes, the plot was compelling and very smooth while I read it, and the historical setting is accurate, without being heavy in reading.
This is the second book in The Oath Trilogy,  you can also read as a book as standalone, but I have already put on my to read list of books, the first one and also the third of this trilogy.

Warrior of Ice by Michelle Willingham (Warriors of Ireland #1)

Locked in a deadly game!
Physically and emotionally scarred, Lady Taryn knows no man would want her for a wife. Nonetheless, she's determined to free her father from his merciless overlord and enlists powerful warrior Killian MacDubh to help.

He has his own motives for confronting the High King...

Born a bastard, Killian longs to carve out a place for himself. Unaware of her true beauty, Taryn is an alluring distraction to his plan, but as traitors are revealed and loyalties tested, their forbidden love becomes the only thing worth fighting for!

Amazing historical romance book to read, set in Ireland.
Michelle Willingham has the ability to create woderful characters, so deep in their feelings and emotion, because difficult left a mark in their lives.
In this case both, Taryn and Killian, are a clear example.
Lady Taryn is disfigured, and her physical imperfection has heavily influenced her life, she didn't live a normal life, she was denied the opportunity to spend a happy youth and in some sense even frivolous, with feasts and courtship due her social position, but instead hadn't anything of these things. In all the ways she tried to overcome her loneliness and not to get hit by the wickedness of the people, but for her the first approach to unknown people is always difficult.
All the more she has to be admired for her willingness to leave, to go and pray the High King to spare the life of her father, condemned to be executed in an exemplary manner for  treason.
I found Killian extraordinary, truly one an amazing male protagonist. So proud and stubborn in dealing everyday with people who treat his as a spam, because of he was conceived out of wedlock, a bastard son of the King, and for that everything is precluded to him, a reality brutally slammed on his face since he was a child. Only his absolute love and his protective instinct towards his sister sickness, bind him to that clan of which he can't even be part and he is willing to do everything to proctect his sister, the only one ho showed love for him.
Thanks to his past he is able not to be swayed by appearances when he met Taryn and despite sometimes is rough in his manners, Killian is truly unique with her.
I really loved him and his way with his inseparable cat.
A really nice story to read if you like this genre and first book in the series "Warriors of Ireland"

Tamed by Rebecca Zanetti (Dark Protectors #6.5)

Caleb Donovan was never meant to be a prophet. At heart he's a conqueror, his appetites far more carnal than spiritual. He's not inclined to repress his passions and surrender to fate. After all, that's what cost him Lily—three centuries ago. She married another, because it was ordained. Now that he's in the same benighted calling—and forced into proximity with her—all the old desires are roaring back to life. . .

After widowhood and centuries of celibacy, Lily is eager to explore the wild side of life, except now she's vulnerable to another forced relationship, with an enemy. But this time she's determined to choose her own path. And if hot, furious Caleb comes charging to the rescue, it might just change both their destinies. . .

Love is about to start conquering. . .

Ms Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protectors is an amazing series, in the paranormal romance one of the best.
Caleb, the rebel, was a real surprise for me, I read about him in the previous books, but I didn't expect to read about him a short-novel so beautiful. Perhaps he's one of the most fascinating and hot male character in the series, and has nothing to envy to the Kayrs brothers from that point of view.
I love how this author writes, it is impossible for me to stop the reading from one of her books when I begin with it and I love absolutely when her vampires goes all caveman, and at the same time as they open themselves  and become vulnerable to the women they love. I loved everything about Caleb and I wouldn't change a thing in him and Lily. At first in the beginning of the book I thought about her: OMG, this time we Miss Precise and Perfect,  instead Lily turns out a tough one, with an iron-will and I liked she acts with Jane, she is a real friend for her, and Lily loyalty is absolute, even going against what she has always believed.
Just a pity that the book dedicated to them both is a short-novel, they deserved more.
Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books for the book.

“Sacrifice Me, Season One by Sarra Cannon
Vampires. Demons. Witches. When Franki walked into Venom, she knew it was going to be a night to remember. But she never expected to meet a man who would be impossible to forget.”

I really enjoyed  this story. Franki is catapulted in a world full of mystery, very dark, after her birthday, so many questions that remain unresolved for a long time, about her past, her  true nature and the creatures that surround her. Who's the real the evil? I was fascinated by the story and its male protagonist, Rend, and couldn't wait to finish reading it to find out how they were going to end the things them. Nice and well written.

Rating: 4 stars

Bello e ben scritto.

A Highlander's Passion by Vonnie Davis (A Highlander's Beloved #2)

As a bear-shifter in a pack roaming the Scottish countryside, Bryce Matheson embodies brute force and untamed abandon. As a widower, he's running scared. When Bryce attempted to open his scarred heart to another, she grew tired of waiting for him to state his intentions, and the unearthly beauty spurned him for someone who wasn't worthy. But now that fate has conspired to set Kenzie Denune free once again, Bryce vows to finally win her love.

Kenzie is a witch who summons her powers to protect those too weak to care for themselves. After surviving an abusive husband, she swears off men—even men like Bryce, whose iron muscles make her knees weak, and whose piercing eyes fill her with longing. Her life's purpose is to help others. However, dark forces have different plans for her gifts. To save herself, Kenzie must team up with the shifter who has always stirred her soul—and trust in a passion powerful enough to set her blood aflame.

Nice book to read, even if initially, as the story begins, I thought it was another kind of story, I expected to be the usual paranormal romance book, very hot, with the handsome shifter guy, instead Kenzie and Bryce's storymores little more deep and touching.
Yes there are funny moments, other moments very hot, but sometimes there's a lot more beetwen them, their story is quite complex.
Both them made mistakes, Kenzie paid all the consequences for them, too much, and reading the book I found out aspects of Bryce amazing, he is really a great character.
Another person I loved and remained in my heart is Colleen, Bryce's little daughter, she is really irresistible and her presence makes the difference in the book.
I must say that in the book there's more magic than shapeshiftinthe cause of the story linked to Kenzie's past and the dangers linked to it.
One thing that I love to read in these books in their original language is when they're written in Scottish dialect, it's awesome, I love it.
This is the second book in the series "A Highlander's Beloved".

Anteprima Mayhem by Angela Addams (The Order of the Wolf #5)

He will rock her world… once he shows her how he really howls.

By night, Mayhem howls out monster rock hits to roaring crowds, and lives the rock ’n’ roll dream. But lately he wants more than empty sex marathons with lusting fangirls. When he spies a beautiful redhead at his latest album launch party, his wolf howls only for her.

He can taste her sweetness and innocence hovering just beyond his grasp, but it’ll be a delicate task showing her the side of his life no one ever sees. When the sun rises, and his wolf form takes over.

Fledgling rock magazine editor Hannah knows the minute she lays eyes on Mayhem that she won’t fit into his world. But that doesn’t mean she can’t fantasize that she’s the only woman wrapped around his smoking-hot body.

One kiss—one perfect kiss—and Mayhem is ready to seal the deal of and for a lifetime. But before he can properly introduce Hannah to both halves of himself, she is gone without a trace. And the rapidly cooling trail smells distinctly of Hunter…

I admit the title and cover of the book have certainly done their job and caught my attention, when I picked up this book.
"Mayhem" is a paranormal romance, set between werewolves and humans and it's the fifth book in the series "The Order of the Wolf" by Angela Addams.
It's a nice and quick book to read because of its length, and very hot, thanks to Mayhem the male protagonist.
I'm in love with shapeshifters, but in this case, I loved also the fact that Mayhem is a rockstar, leader of the Riot. He's dark and sexy at the same time, my kind of guy!
Between Hannah and Mayhem all happens quickly, perhaps too much, and when his enemies kidnap Hannah, the two spend very little time together and maybe this is one of the things I liked less in the story.
Hannah is introduced into the reality of the world of Mayhem by his foe, which also reveals her the truth about her role in the world of werewolves. Hannah is a warrior, not a simple human, descended from a race of Amazons who are predestined to be the slayers and huntresses of werewolves, if they become part of the Order, or they choose to be mates of the werewolves.
I really liked Ms Addams' idea and it is needless to say that my choice is to stand for werewolves.
Another thing that I liked about Mayhem and his pack is that they're immortals are powerful, but and they can't shapeshift at will during the day, they're still too young to control their transformation, and this is something quite unusual.
I really loved the bonding and attachment between Raven and his alpha, and I'm curious to read the previous books in this series.
I found Hannah maybe a little weak at the beginning as a character, but she is overwhelmed by so many things, and the book is really short.

The Major's Faux Fiancee by Erica Ridley (The Dukes of War #4)

When Major Bartholomew Blackpool learns the girl-next-door from his childhood will be forced into an unwanted marriage, he returns home to play her pretend beau. He figures now that he's missing a leg, a faux fiancée is the best an ex-soldier can get. He admires her pluck, but the lady deserves a whole man—and he'll ensure she gets one.

Miss Daphne Vaughan hates that crying off will destroy Major Blackpool's chances of finding a real bride. She plots to make him jilt her first. Who cares if it ruins her? She never wanted a husband anyway. But the major is equally determined that she break the engagement. With both of them on their worst behavior, neither expects their fake betrothal to lead to love...

The plot picked my interest and I expected to find in this book a story more engaging.
Instead, and I'm very sorry, so it was not.
On my part I didn't like the two protagonists.
Especially Daphne disappointed me, she is so focused, too much for me, in her battles to bring to the attention of all the problems of the less fortunate, and that becomes a real obsession for the whole book. Too repetitive in what she says and does, putting everything else in second place, and even her motives aren't entirely altruistic, in my opinion, if really what pushes her it is wanting to be remembered.
Bartholomew, however, is nestled in the most complete self-pity after losing a brother and one of his legs during the war. A former libertine for reasons of force majeure, he hides himself from everyone because he would bear to be accepted by the Ton only out of pity. After an initial moment of self-doubt, I would have expected a stronger reaction on his part, instead he uses the self-mockery everytime to disguise his discomfort.
The romance in this story was a little too marginal.
But this is just my opinion.
Thanks to Netgalley for the book.

Beyond Innocence by Kit Rocha (Beyond #6)

For years, Jared has existed on the fringes of both Eden society and Dallas O'Kane's Sector Four gang. He travels between these worlds, protected by his money and power--money he earned selling his body, and power that comes from knowing secrets. He's untouchable—until he starts a new life gathering intelligence for the O'Kanes.
Lili Fleming walked out of Sector Five with a gun, the bloodstained clothes on her back, and an icy determination to survive. She finds herself in a world where people live hard and love harder, and nothing's more terrifying than how much the O'Kanes wake her up, make her feel—especially Jared.
Emotion is a risk he can't afford, and a complication she doesn't need. But neither can resist the lust simmering between them, and the sparks that could either melt the ice around both their hearts…or get them killed. Because the only thing more dangerous than loving an O'Kane is loving a spy.

No way I'm going to be tired of reading Kit Rocha's Beyond series. Beyond Innocence is the sixth book, with also several short-novels, and the O'Kane and their Sector Four always have an irresistible fascination for me. Things have changed a lot since the beginning of the series, a fact that lead Dallas, The King, to new challenges on a land that often is like a minefield, but from which the leader of the O'Kane cannot stand back or show any kind of weakness, if he wants to keep safe his Sector 4, but especially his men and women who are now his family.
Every action leads to a consequence and a price to pay and, in this case in Beyond Innocence, Dallas, for the good of all, would not have been able to expose himself to save Jared, who is not officially part of the O'Kane, but is very important and indissolubly linked to Ace. And this would have caused a big rift in the group. But sometimes the choices made by the Dallas in the past come to help without even having to ask, and in this case is  Lili Fleming, a woman who seems unable to survive her past moves, alone, without questions, because Jared has become the most important thing in her life.
Totally blocked by the terror of returning to feel emotions, for fear of not being able to support the weight of it, Lili lives with the O'Kane, but she has always felt out of place and she is unable to trust them.
The couple Jared/Lili is not among my favorite in this series. I did not find that sort of magic and involvement that I felt as I read the other books. All initially a little too easy and smooth for Jared, I was expecting something different. And to appreciate Lili, I had to reach the end of the book, when finally she somehow manages to use to her benefit, and for Jared and the O'Kane, what in the past had made her a victim unable to react. There I really liked her, but before she remained for me a big question mark.
I'm in love a little more with Cruz, now I think he became the character I love most and I'm always happy to find him even in small doses.
Who instead intrigues me and I find also a little disturbing is Ashwin, Cruz's contact in Eden, I wonder if sooner or later this cold and calculating soldier will be involved with the O'Kane with a story on his own.
And then Gia... more and more present in recent books, but always and only due to her bond with Ace and Jared... well she is one of my favorites.
Beyond Innocence and the Four Sector remain a its wicked charm, for its world where violence, extreme sex, friendship, and loyalty are inseparable from each other. You love the O'Kane or you hate them. It's the only way to feel about them.
I received an ARC copy of the book from Kit Rocha, whom I thank, in exchange for an honest review.

TITLE: Beyond Innocence
AUTHOR: Kit Rocha
SERIES: Beyond #6

The Last True Vampire by Kate Baxter (Last True Vampire #1)

As Michael’s eyes lit on a female not twenty feet away, he knew without a doubt that it was her blood that called to him and her scent that had awakened him. This female had tethered his soul and returned it to him.

Soul Survivor

He is the last of his race. The one true king of the vampires. Michael Aristov roams the nightclubs of L.A. after dark, haunted by his past and driven by his hunger. The last of the Ancient Ones, he alone has survived the destruction of his race at the hands of the slayers. Now he is forced to hunt and feed like a common vampire, a creature of lust. Nothing in this world can fulfill his needs…until he meets a woman who’s everything he’s ever wanted. And more.

Sweet Salvation

Her name is Claire Thompson. Her blood is so sweet, so intoxicating—the smell alone draws Michael to her like a moth to the flame. Sly, sexy, and seductive, Claire seems to be the only mortal who can satisfy his craving and seal his fate…forever. Can she be trusted? From their very first kiss, the last true vampire sweeps Claire into a world in which darkness rules desire—and where falling in love is the greatest danger of all…

I really loved this book.
I think it's the first time I'm in love with the female protagonist as much as the vampire, and what a vampire, an Ancient One, powerful, withva big baggage on his shoulders: he is the only survivor of his race, because of the extermination at the hands of Sortiari, a sect led by real fanatics.
Michael is the ghost of himself and only when he finds Claire, his predestined mate, he will put in motion a series of events that will bring back to life the Warrior he was, but especially his power and his desire to resurrect his race, turning the dhampyr  who always follow him and are waiting for this moment.
Claire is sassy, funny despite having spent a difficult childhood and still she always in trouble for money, but this hasn't hardened her, she has a sweet heart and I adored as she worry constantly for little Vanessa, a neighbor's daughter.
Between Claire and Michael is fire-works from the start , but she was able to give Michael a little bit of worry,  despite everything.
Needless to say the dhampyr aren't the only ones waiting for Michael, the sect that has always hunted him awaits the right moment to go back to hitting the vampire and kill him forever. The Sortiari is full of supernatural creatures (ShapeShifter, Berserker, magicians) the perfect slayers, with special weapons to kill any creature.
So not only passion between Claire and Michael, but a plot full of action because of Michael and his dangerous enemies.
I really liked Jenner, Ronan, two dhampyr who stand with Michael and form an exceptional trio, they're different, but with them the story more interesting.
Reading the story intrigued me a lot the idea of the author to create a collective memory that binds together the memories of all the vampires existed, fascinating.
The ending of the book lets imagine that the next story in the series will be on Ronan and I can't wait to read it.
Amazing cover by the way.
Thanks to Netgalley ans St. Martin's Paperbacks for the book.

TITLE: The Last True Vampire
AUTHOR: Kate Baxter
SERIES: Last True Vampire #1
PUBLISHER: St. Martin's Paperbacks

Dimenticavo: copertina assolutamente meravigliosa.

Anteprima Soul Scorched by Donna Grant (Dark Kings #6)

Darcy was floating on a cloud of pure passion. Everywhere he touched, Warrick was leaving a mark on her, forever changing her. She could feel it through her skin and muscle, through bone and into her soul. It was as if he was changing her. And she welcomed it…

Her power is a blessing.

Born on the Isle of Skye, Darcy is a beautiful woman of many gifts. Fortune-telling is her forte, and she remains the only Druid who could unlock the secrets--and desires--of a Dragon King. His name is Warrick. And now that Darcy's seen into his dragon heart, nothing will ever be the same…

His passion is a curse.

Warrick never intended to put Darcy in harm's way. But ever since she revealed a shocking truth, Darcy has been hunted by the Dark Fae, who want to use her powers for their own evil purposes. Now it's up to Warrick to do whatever it takes to keep the woman who sets his soul on fire safe. But protecting Darcy means putting himself--and his entire race--in jeopardy. Is his desperate longing for one woman worth the risk of losing everything…for eternity? Dive into Soul Scorched, the sizzling next novel in the Dark Kings series from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant.

I have already reviewed the book in its different serial publications, in this case I speak of it as a whole.
As I mentioned earlier I have not read the previous books in the series Dark Kings, and despite being well Scorched Soul book #6, I had no difficulty in following Warrick and Darcy's story.
What struck me most is the richness of characters featured in the book, and not everyone can properly consider as secondary, why theyvstand out and attract the attention almost more of the protagonist of the story. One of all, is Ulrik, he's very enigmatic and unpredictable. Good or evil? It is not easy to understand it and make a decision on him, I was terribly fascinated by him and then ... I don't know, everyone, I believe, will react  to his way, bafter reading the book, with everything kind of thoughts.
Rhi also is a another story, full of mysteries and constantly fighting with her self . She faced terrible situations, due to Balladyn, who regarded almost as a brother, and instead he subjected her ttoghe worst to try to turn her into a Dark Fae. Her presence is important in the story, but then slowly eclipses.
Con "the King of Kings" is ruthless, willing to do anything to protect the race in his care; the beginning of the book, thanks to him is very cute and funny, but then he comes out who he really is.
And the there are Darcy and Warrick. He is one of the Dragon King, the more lonely and grumpy, an outstanding Warrior but also a protector. He loves to tackle his missions alone anknow isn't known for his joviality, but Darcy soon remains fascinated by him and the thing is mutual. The fact that the Dark Fae are trying to kill her, force the two to maintain a very close contact, with everything that goes with it.
Darcy might be a pawn who finds herself involved in a bigger game than her, due to her Druid powers, but she refuses to be considered such, she loves to make her choices and she accepts the consequences, even if it put her in an awkward position. Meanwhile, noone can intimidate Warrick, he doesn't accept ultimatums from Con, nor he is willing to go against what he feels right.
Definitcouplet amazing couple that chooses to the face of the truth of things.
The world created by Ms Donna Grant is fascinating, with her Dragons, Fae and Druids, full of magic and intrigue, passion and those special and unique bonds between "fated mates".
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Paperbacks for the kind preview of the book.

TITOLO: Soul Scorched
AUTHOR: Donna Grant
SERIES: Dark Kings #6
PUBLISHER: St. Martin's Paperbacks

Anteprima Married for Amari's Heir by Maisey Yates

She will share his bed…

It may have been Charity Wyatt's father who stole from mogul Rocco Amari, but it's Charity who will pay the price of Rocco's vengeance.

Carry his heir…

Relinquishing her virginity should have covered Charity's debt, but her one white-hot night with the enigmatic Italian has unexpected consequences.

And be his wife!

Determined her baby will have a better childhood than she did, Charity asks Rocco for financial help. But Rocco has bigger plans in mind: to legitimize his heir by making Charity his wife!

When one night…leads to pregnancy!

As always the name of Maisey Yates is a guarantee when you want to read a good contemporary romance, but honestly I have to admit that I chose to read this book just because I know her as author,  but the synopsis doesn't seem so compelling to capture the attention of potential readers ...
The difference in the book are the characters created by Ms. Yates and her ability to write very "easy" stories to read.
Rocco begins not in the best of ways, he is unforgivable for his behavior with Charity, he is intimidating, arrogant and a iceman. He annoyed me a lot because of his approach, and only thanks to the knowledge of his past, I could overtake the initial antipathy towards him. He isn't charming or an easy man to approach, but he's compelling for sure.
Charity maybe is a bit too lost with self-pity, and she doesn't want to acknowledge her part of guilt for choosing to help his father to complete his cons , but otherwise I really liked her for how she's trying to straighten out her life, putting aside her pride and facing Rocco, to ensure a future to the unborn child.
The book is very pleasant to read and I like how this author is very good to write hot scenes between the protagonists, and then Rocco deserves to be known, at certain times his story almost broke my heart, and from that moment I realized that he was perfect as Ms Yates had created him.
It's the tenth book in the series "A Night with Consequences" published by Harlequin, a series with the same thread, but different authors for the books.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for the kind preview.

Lachlan's Revenge by R.L. Syme- Highlander Renegades #4

They took his family, they took his freedom... but he's back to reclaim it all...

Lachlan MacLeod survived an English dungeon. He held his own under torture and brutality. He survived the death of his wife and alienation from his family. He managed to take back his ancestral home and restore his son's inheritance. But the English threat has never truly abated. According to his nephew, invasion is immanent. Tired of being subject to the whims of the English, Lachlan will take control of his own destiny. By any means necessary.
Lady Evangeline, daughter of an invading English earl, has been raised to privilege and the expectation of an advantageous foreign marriage. She is as eager to escape her father's control as Lachlan is eager to kidnap her, though the wilds of the Scottish Highlands could be a tad more welcoming. The secret she holds could have deadly consequences--not only for Lachlan, but for his entire clan, not to mention the proud English lady and her companions. But this is one secret she cannot wait to spill...

Lachlan's Revenge is the fourth book in the series The Highlander Renegades by R.L. Syme.
I didn't know about this series, but I could appreciate the story about Lachlan and Elsa even reading it as a book stand alone.
A beautiful story, a historical romance set in Scotland, in the Highlands, where clan and English nobles are always at war to determine who has the power and rights to rule the lands.
Lachlan is desperate to save his clan and his lands, he's gone through hell, lost his beloved ones, he is willing to do everything, even to kidnap and marry the daughter of his great enemy.
Everything seems to happen too easily, and in a heartbeat Lachlan finds himself married to a beautiful unknown woman, who being gagged can't even express her consent.
The comparison between the two newlyweds is one of the strengths of this book, without even meaning to be it, perhaps is one of the most fun moment, because of the reaction of Elsa.
From here onwards to Lachlan plans are destroyed, twists and betrayals occur in this story that won me over.
The plot is very good and the characters amazing, although I found a bit annoying cailen and Lady Evangeline, while Lachlan is truly extraordinary, as Elsa and her past.
Certainly the other three books of these Highlander Renegades are going into my to-read list.
Thanks Netgalley for the book.

Anteprima Soul Scorched- Part 4 by Donna Grant (Dark Kings #6)

They are men of danger, desire, and dragon magic. As old as time itself, this race of shape-shifting warriors have kept the balance of worldly power in check. But when certain breed of woman enters the picture, the future becomes an unknown entity. . .
The breathtaking conclusion to New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant's Dark Kings e-series!

Her power is a blessing. His passion is a curse. Now it's up to Warrick to do whatever it takes to keep the woman who sets his soul on fire safe. But being Darcy's protector comes with a cost: The future of his entire race. Is his desperate longing for one woman worth the risk of losing everything...for eternity

Fourth and final part of the serial publication of Soul Scorched.
There are several dramatic turn of events, although a bit at the end remains pending, with big question marks about what will be the future of the Dragon Kings.
As always was in this book, not the whole story revolves around only to Warrick and Darcy.
Ulrik surprised me in this part of the story, he left me speechless, but I'm not going to spoil the reading to others. I can say though that Ms Grant certainly did not choose the most obvious and easy root to take for her characters.
Rhi, whoI liked before, here she is somewhat eclipsed, even in times of need for Darcy and Con, who I didn't like at all before, remains relentless and unscrupulous to use any means to achieve his goals, but maybe it's easier to understand his point of view.
I'd like to recommend this book and series to the lovers of this genre.

Anteprima Soul Scorched- Part 3 by Donna Grant (Dark Kings #6)

The desire-and danger-heats up to a scorching degree in the third installment SOUL SCORCHED (The Dark Kings) from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant.

It was as if he was changing her. And she welcomed it...
Darcy's desire for Warrick has altered her life forever. But now that she's being hunted by the Dark Fae, it's up to Warrick to do whatever it takes to keep Darcy safe. But how can he protect Darcy when that means putting himself-and his entire race-at risk?
Read all four parts of this sensational e-series-and look for the full volume of Soul Scorched from St. Martin's Paperbacks.

Soul Scorched is an addiction. I am totally taken by the characters of this story, and there are many mysteries and questions, and I hope to find an answer to them.
Passion and plenty of action in this part of the novel.
Warrick is wonderful,  is willing to defend Darcy from everything, even fighting with tooth and nail against his own race. Unwilling to make compromises that put her in danger, he always told her the truth of the facts, giving her the possibility to choose. He is a warrior, but also a protector, and he is absolutely amazing. I'm love with Darcy for her way of seeing things and her reactions.
And then there a lot more of characters in this third part of the story. Ulrik still remains an enigma, full of contradictions, Rhi fights against her self , both for her feelings not reciprocated by her ex, a mysterious Dragon king, and against the various attempts of the Dark Fae to win her over their side, and then the other couples part the Dragon King group, and druids.
I d'interesse like very much Con.
I can't wait to read the fourth and last part!

Soul Scorched crea dipendenza.

Anteprima Soul Scorched- Part 2 by Donna Grant (Dark Kings #6)

The exclusive e-serial continues! From New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant comes the second sensual Dark Kings tale set in the wild Highlands of Scotland, where love and danger collide…

She could feel him through her skin and muscle, through bone and into her soul.
Warrick has never wanted a woman more. But he never intended to put Darcy in harm's way. Ever since she revealed a shocking truth, Darcy has been hunted by the Dark Fae, who want to use her powers for their own evil purposes. Warrick's passion is the greatest Darcy has ever known. But will it end up being a curse...

I really enjoyed  this second part of the  Soul Scorched.
Ulrik, although is not the main character in this book, is truly amazing in this part of the story, but he also remains a big mystery. Rhi also intrigued me a lot, as well as her past and I'm glad they had them both so ample space.
Things between Warrick and Darcy get interesting, as they are forced to be together because of an attack on the forces of the Dark Fae. The attraction that binds them begins to be palpable and difficult to control, but everything is postponed until later due to the enemy. Warrick is willing to defend Darcy risking his own life, but she is unwilling to stand  and watch helplessly while the Dark Fae are attacking them, she's a tough girl.
I'm really in love with these Dragon Kings.

It's the first book I read by Donna Grant, yes I know, seeing as i'm lovingsinceramente the very start, I must slap my self for starting The Dark Kings series only from the sixth book. But I couldn't resist the allure of the cover and the plot.
I enjoyed a lot this first part of the book. The beginning is funny, as well as the irony of some characters of Ms Grant and the way she writes.
The world of these Dragon Kings is compelling, full of contrasts but just the kind of paranormal romance I love with dragons, fae and Druids.
Since its inception the novel puts immediately under the protagonists: Warrick and Darcy, but at the same time is full of secondary characters, and it's easy to enter immediately into the heart of this reality thanks to background you can learn from them, which is very useful for those who, like me, did not read the other books in the series.
Warrick is a fantastic character, reserved, a little brooding, accustomed to loneliness, but with Darcy, together they're an amazing couple. Darcy, she is absolutely worth of this Dragon King.
I must say that I was very taken Ulrik and also his past. I can't wait to go with on with the second part of the book ...
It is a book that will be published first in 4 releases in June and then complete in July.
