Made For You by Renee Harless (Sunny Brook Farms #3)

BLURB

Heading to a teachers’ conference hundreds of miles away from my small town should have been a nice break. Until I was propositioned by a stranger to be his wife for the next six months. And for whatever reason, I said yes.

Talon Beckett was a domineering billionaire with a steely-blue gaze that made me forget my own name. It was my excuse for agreeing to his terms…that and he agreed to play up our recent vows when we attended my ex’s wedding.

We both decided that we’d go our separate ways when our six months were up. He’d get full control of his bank account and the hotel chain that bore his mother’s maiden name, and I’d get whatever I needed in return.

When our time was coming to an end, I realized the one thing I wanted was something he had no desire to give. It was the affectionate side he’d kept hidden from everyone despite his need to say, “My Wife” when we were out in public. And as I crossed the days off the calendar, it was harder to remember that our marriage wasn’t real. Especially when we needed to sign those termination papers.

I feared I’d lose not only my new last name and job, but my heart along the way.

**This is book 3 in the Sunny Brook Farms Series. Each one can be read as a complete standalone. Always an HEA!**

REVIEW

I lover reading Made For You by Renee Harless, her writing is smooth, ready to read and captivating from the start of her story.

Her characters are amazing, not only Aurora and Talon, the main characters, but also Aurora’s family and Dean, who is more like a brother for Talon, always ready to protect him. He’s intriguing, their bond strong and funny and I hope in a story only for him in the future.

Aurora an Talon meet by chance and are the opposite. She’s a smalltown girl, she’s impulsive and a little wild at times, totally unselfish, with a great big loving family, that always has her back. Saying she never had the best luck with her past boyfriends is an understatement.

Talon is a broody billionaire, who wears an armor of coldness and ruthlessness because of his family. Apart from his grandmother, who cares for him, there always has been a big hole in his life. He lost his parents in childhood and his grandfather tried to erase the memories of his mother in every way possible.

That made Talon’s mission in life: take hold of his mother legacy, not for the money or power, but because it’s the only thing he could cherish about her.

And for that he desperately needs Aurora’s help.

I loved Talon because is so different from the usually “broody billionaire characters”, at the beginning he’s a little scary, cold with people, but with Aurora he shows a new side of him. He’s protective, caring, free to be himself and down to earth with everyone. He’s amazing.

Aurora and Talon chemistry is hot and their back and forth fun to read.

Aurora is perfect for him, she’s far from naïve, strong and really a ray of sunshine in Talon’s life.

Made For You is the third book in the Sunny Brook Farm series, I read it as a standalone, but I’m going to read now the previous books because they are about Aurora’s family and I loved them so much.

☆¸.•*¨*★☆ FROSTBITTEN by Rebecca Zanetti (#6 Deep Ops) ☆★*¨*•.¸☆

Enigmatic.

With a wildly gifted mind, and an untamed head of hair to match, petite

After an attempt to bust a bank scam goes awry, Millie is in hot water with Homeland Security and targeted by lethal enemies. In the midst of the trouble, she heads home to help out with the family hunting and fishing business. But when their rival competitor and Millie’s ex is murdered, she’s the number one suspect . . .

Irresistible.

Former Marine turned lawyer Scott Terentson devotes himself to getting his clients out of tricky binds. A loner, the last thing he wants is to belong to any team, yet the Deep Ops group considers him one of their own—and he pays the price by getting shot at by their enemies. Now Millie is seeking his help—just as he’s dealing with a brutal fail regarding a recent trial. Both are a headache, yet he’s drawn to Millie in spite of himself. They’re opposites, but maybe the old adage is true . . .

Electric.

Working together, Millie and Scott soon have more on their hands than they bargained for as the danger escalates—along with the sizzling heat between them. And when a disappearance is thrown into the mix, all bets are off . . .

REVIEW

Frostbitten is a great read to start the new reading year. I love the Deep Ops series by Rebecca Zanetti and this is the sixth book, and as always amazing to read because of her characters, because of the plot that doesn’t give away who the real murderer is, and why he’s after her. Really the plot is great, a page-turner, but also Rebecca Zanetti has such a perfect gift to start a story, and a romantic suspense one.

This time everything is more focused on Millie, the little “Q” (as the one on James Bond movies and books) in the team lead by Angus Force, a team part of the Homeland Defense Department. And Scott is the lawyer who helped the team in the past and took a bullet and saving Angus’ life in the previous book.

Millie always dismissed Scott as a fancy lawyer, a gorgeous man, but still a lawyer and she hates the category. She’s also angry with him because he blew-up her mission while she was undercover and he crossed her path working for a client. But when she’s accused of her ex-boyfriend murder, after returning in her hometown, she needs a good lawyer, and he shows up to take charge of her defense, not that Millie made a call for him, it was a nice interference of the Chief of the police who knows her from childhood.

And this is one of the beautiful and funny things of this story, how everyone in town wants to protect her.

Scott is an ex-marine, protective, alpha and stubborn, so no fancy lawyer there, and when the times get tough that’s his cup of tea, and Millie realizes how she was wrong about him.

The chemistry between them is explosive, the plot well developed and I loved the new characters we find in this story as JT, Millie’s brother, her aunt or Scott’s mum.

There’s also a lot of Roscoe time, Angus’ dog. Scott is taking care of him while Angus is away, and Roscoe is a star as always, he’s fun to read. And also part of the team comes to help Scott and protect Millie.

Anytime I read a new book in this series I think how Rebecca Zanetti can do better than the previous book, and I’m so happy about it.

I hope, if my sixth sense is good, that we’ll see more in the future about JT, he could be a good addition to the team…

Review Consort of Fire by Kit Rocha (#1 Bound to Fire and Steel)

From cult-favorite writing duo Kit Rocha comes a fiery novel set in a lush fantasy world brimming with ancient magic, dangerous secrets, and erotic connections.

For three thousand years, an ancient dragon god has protected the borders of the Sheltered Lands. In return, he makes only one demand: every one hundred years, the mortal ruler must send their heir to serve as his consort…for as long as they can survive.

Sachielle of House Roquebarre is the thirty-first consort to be sacrificed to the monster who guards the mountain passes. She is young, beautiful—and she has three secrets.

First: she’s a disposable orphan trained in seduction.

Second: her handmaid, Zanya, is an assassin and the only person she has ever loved.

Third—and most dangerous: she’s cursed. Sachi and Zanya have five weeks to murder the Dragon in his bed. If they fail, the mortal king’s curse will steal not just Sachi’s life, but her very soul.

The Dragon has only one secret: he is nothing like what they have been told. And he will do whatever it takes to possess them both.

REVIEW

I loved this new book by Kit Rocha and first in the series Bound to Fire and Steel. I’m a huge fan of Kit Rocha’s books and when I read about a new paranormal romance with dragons I was thrilled, but I couldn’t imagine how far they could go with the worldbuilding for this series.

I was stunned at first, it’s a mix between paranormal romance, magic, gods and somehow  a little like the world of Greek mythology. Perhaps everything at first slow down the story, but it’s worth it, I was enthralled with the plot and the characters.

I loved the journey through the lands of the Dragon, Ash, after he exchanged his vows with Princess Sachielle. With Kit Rocha the romance in their story is never easy, or only between two people. It’s more complicated and this time at first is a slow-burn, then an intriguing game full of passion, erotism, secrets and betrayals, that involves Ash, Sachielle and her handmaid Zanya.

Ash is the character I loved the most, because of his immortal life he’s gone through a lot of pain, losses of loved ones, but his heart still has the strength to love and care, to protect the people he loves and his lands.

Zanya is an amazing character as well, her story, her loyalty and love for Sachielle is unconditional, she’s a fighter and I love her darkside.

I can’t say the same for Sachielle, I didn’t connect with her as the others.

There’s so much more to read about this story, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series, after the little cliffhanger at the end of the book.

`*•.¸★☆REVIEW☆★¸.•*´

After having seen Hope, Drake and Paxton grew up as childhood friends in the Dreamworld in the previous books, finally we see them as adults and the time has come to understand Hope’s destiny and find out if her dream for peace between the Realm and their enemy the Kurjans is linked to her fate.

The book can't be read as a standalone, the plot has twist and turns strongly connected with the past. I don't love spoilers so it's hard write about this story, the plot is a masterpiece, engaging, with a lot of action scenes. Hope's fate is not only about her choice between Drake and Paxton, their romance story, but there's also her role in the ritual of the Seven against Ulric, the enemy who could destroy their world. A war with no holds barred.

It"s a story about family, friendship, love and most of all trust, loyalty and total unselfishness. Talking about the characters in this story I really loved Hope, Paxton and Zane, Hope's father. Hope nature as only female vampire, among the immortals is an unsolved mistery, because she seems almost human, fragile in the Realm World, she can't heal herself, she hasn't special skills as the others, but she conquered her role as leader strategist in the battlefield. Everyone vampires, demons, shapeshifters, follow her lead, because she's the best.

She deeply cares for her family and friends and she feels the responsability to find a way for a truce in the war. Paxton’s childhood with his father was a nightmare, the only kindness showed to him was from Hope's mother and father, Janie and Zane and this gave him a purpose, a mission in his life: protect Hope, no matter what. He's an enigma, full of secrets and surprises, at one point nobody seems to know who the real Paxton is.

And Zane? Sometimes it's so strange for me to think about Zane and Janie as parents. More than ten years ago, in the series he was a child himself, than a boy, now he's the powerful King of the demons and a father. Without mercy for the enemies, but such a great daddy for his forever baby-girl Hope and a great role-model for Paxton. I enjoyed the moments when Zane and Paxton are facing each other, really loved them I don't know if this is the end of my journey with the Dark Protectors, I'd love more books in the series, but I'm also happy and fullfilled this way at the moment.

REVIEW

I love this series so much. Unforgiven is Deep Ops series book #5, each book could be read as standalone, but reading them in order is the best way to enjoy the amazing characters after they found their mates in the previous books.
This time the spot is on Jethro , Angus’ friend, who helped him to take down a psycho serial killer. Jethro is an ex MI6 agent, not so ex though, but everyone known him as a Brit philosophy professor at the University. Unforgiven is also Gemma's story, a woman on the run with her little daughter Trudy.
Is a fact that Rebecca Zannetti's male characters give their best with single mom and their children and Jethro is no exception.
He’s full of charm, superhot badass, he has darkness in him, but he's so caring, sweet and protective with Trudy.
The past left marks on Jethro’s life, but because of that he always take care of the people around him, without knowledge of how his presence is so important in the life of his friends.
Gemma is also a wonderful woman smart, strong, she chose to fight back, saving herself and her daughter, running away, changing her life forever. She has secrets, she’s alone, with no family to trust, until fate puts on her path Jethro.
They feel a strong pull toward each other, but they sense there’s something behind what they let show to everyone.
The past for both of them come back in full force. Things become complicated and dangerous and they can’t hide anymore their feelings and their secrets, but this time they have a great backup.
Angus and Nari, Wolf and Dana, their team makes the difference in this story. They feel Jethro as part of them and the bond is stronger than any kind of blood ties.
I loved also the new secondary characters (the twins from Jethro former life), they’re are intriguing and fun. You can only hope the author give them their own story in a new book.
The cherry on the top is always Roscoe with his antics, one of the best character I ever read. Roscoe is Angus’ German Shepard… and part of the team as well.

Bound by the Buccaneer by Normandie Alleman - Pirates of the JolieRouge #2

Two years have passed since Frederica joined Gaston aboard the Ocean’s Knave, and with every passing hour they have fallen more deeply in love. By day she is the ship’s physician, but at night she serves her captain in his bed, offering her body for him to punish and pleasure until she begs for more. But after a successful run of raiding other pirate ships, the couple have a target on their backs.
Their only hope is to form an alliance with a trio of like-minded captains, but in order to guarantee the cooperation of these unyielding, battle-hardened men, Gaston is forced to offer them a night with Frederica. Reluctantly, she agrees to be shared with the men, but afterwards Gaston finds it difficult to forgive himself for bartering Frederica’s charms. As jealousy and desperation threaten to consume him, will Gaston lose his beloved Frederica or can he weather the storm and find a way to bind her to him forever?

Erotic romance, set in the world of privateers and pirates, and it was precisely this thing to intrigue me and draw my attention. This is the first time I read a  BDSM book in this type of reality.
If I must be honest it was not love at first sight with the protagonists, but maybe it's my fault, since I started reading this series by its second book.
I found Frederica and Gaston already as a couple, but something in their Dom/sub relationship is missing for me. I found Gaston in this story too insicure and brooding even though is the Dom, he takes his decisions and then once Frederica obeys him, however he is not able to accept the weight of the consequences.
And Frederica seems a little too naïve and inexperienced, but she let go without too many thoughts when Gaston asks her to join a three men without him.
Nice, the sex scenes are very hot, but I didn't feel very involved reading their adventures.
Thanks to Netgalley and Stormy Night Publication for the book.

Anteprima Mayhem by Angela Addams (The Order of the Wolf #5)

He will rock her world… once he shows her how he really howls.

By night, Mayhem howls out monster rock hits to roaring crowds, and lives the rock ’n’ roll dream. But lately he wants more than empty sex marathons with lusting fangirls. When he spies a beautiful redhead at his latest album launch party, his wolf howls only for her.

He can taste her sweetness and innocence hovering just beyond his grasp, but it’ll be a delicate task showing her the side of his life no one ever sees. When the sun rises, and his wolf form takes over.

Fledgling rock magazine editor Hannah knows the minute she lays eyes on Mayhem that she won’t fit into his world. But that doesn’t mean she can’t fantasize that she’s the only woman wrapped around his smoking-hot body.

One kiss—one perfect kiss—and Mayhem is ready to seal the deal of and for a lifetime. But before he can properly introduce Hannah to both halves of himself, she is gone without a trace. And the rapidly cooling trail smells distinctly of Hunter…

I admit the title and cover of the book have certainly done their job and caught my attention, when I picked up this book.
"Mayhem" is a paranormal romance, set between werewolves and humans and it's the fifth book in the series "The Order of the Wolf" by Angela Addams.
It's a nice and quick book to read because of its length, and very hot, thanks to Mayhem the male protagonist.
I'm in love with shapeshifters, but in this case, I loved also the fact that Mayhem is a rockstar, leader of the Riot. He's dark and sexy at the same time, my kind of guy!
Between Hannah and Mayhem all happens quickly, perhaps too much, and when his enemies kidnap Hannah, the two spend very little time together and maybe this is one of the things I liked less in the story.
Hannah is introduced into the reality of the world of Mayhem by his foe, which also reveals her the truth about her role in the world of werewolves. Hannah is a warrior, not a simple human, descended from a race of Amazons who are predestined to be the slayers and huntresses of werewolves, if they become part of the Order, or they choose to be mates of the werewolves.
I really liked Ms Addams' idea and it is needless to say that my choice is to stand for werewolves.
Another thing that I liked about Mayhem and his pack is that they're immortals are powerful, but and they can't shapeshift at will during the day, they're still too young to control their transformation, and this is something quite unusual.
I really loved the bonding and attachment between Raven and his alpha, and I'm curious to read the previous books in this series.
I found Hannah maybe a little weak at the beginning as a character, but she is overwhelmed by so many things, and the book is really short.
Thanks to Nergalley and Sahmain Publishing for the kind preview.

Beyond Innocence by Kit Rocha (Beyond #6)

For years, Jared has existed on the fringes of both Eden society and Dallas O'Kane's Sector Four gang. He travels between these worlds, protected by his money and power--money he earned selling his body, and power that comes from knowing secrets. He's untouchable—until he starts a new life gathering intelligence for the O'Kanes.
Lili Fleming walked out of Sector Five with a gun, the bloodstained clothes on her back, and an icy determination to survive. She finds herself in a world where people live hard and love harder, and nothing's more terrifying than how much the O'Kanes wake her up, make her feel—especially Jared.
Emotion is a risk he can't afford, and a complication she doesn't need. But neither can resist the lust simmering between them, and the sparks that could either melt the ice around both their hearts…or get them killed. Because the only thing more dangerous than loving an O'Kane is loving a spy.

No way I'm going to be tired of reading Kit Rocha's Beyond series. Beyond Innocence is the sixth book, with also several short-novels, and the O'Kane and their Sector Four always have an irresistible fascination for me. Things have changed a lot since the beginning of the series, a fact that lead Dallas, The King, to new challenges on a land that often is like a minefield, but from which the leader of the O'Kane cannot stand back or show any kind of weakness, if he wants to keep safe his Sector 4, but especially his men and women who are now his family.
Every action leads to a consequence and a price to pay and, in this case in Beyond Innocence, Dallas, for the good of all, would not have been able to expose himself to save Jared, who is not officially part of the O'Kane, but is very important and indissolubly linked to Ace. And this would have caused a big rift in the group. But sometimes the choices made by the Dallas in the past come to help without even having to ask, and in this case is  Lili Fleming, a woman who seems unable to survive her past moves, alone, without questions, because Jared has become the most important thing in her life.
Totally blocked by the terror of returning to feel emotions, for fear of not being able to support the weight of it, Lili lives with the O'Kane, but she has always felt out of place and she is unable to trust them.
The couple Jared/Lili is not among my favorite in this series. I did not find that sort of magic and involvement that I felt as I read the other books. All initially a little too easy and smooth for Jared, I was expecting something different. And to appreciate Lili, I had to reach the end of the book, when finally she somehow manages to use to her benefit, and for Jared and the O'Kane, what in the past had made her a victim unable to react. There I really liked her, but before she remained for me a big question mark.
I'm in love a little more with Cruz, now I think he became the character I love most and I'm always happy to find him even in small doses.
Who instead intrigues me and I find also a little disturbing is Ashwin, Cruz's contact in Eden, I wonder if sooner or later this cold and calculating soldier will be involved with the O'Kane with a story on his own.
And then Gia... more and more present in recent books, but always and only due to her bond with Ace and Jared... well she is one of my favorites.
Beyond Innocence and the Four Sector remain a its wicked charm, for its world where violence, extreme sex, friendship, and loyalty are inseparable from each other. You love the O'Kane or you hate them. It's the only way to feel about them.
I received an ARC copy of the book from Kit Rocha, whom I thank, in exchange for an honest review.

TITLE: Beyond Innocence
AUTHOR: Kit Rocha
SERIES: Beyond #6

Get lost in the powerful, sexy novella by Kate Baxter where one alpha shifter will do whatever it takes to claim the woman he can *bearly* resist...

Caden Mitchell is the ultimate alpha. Known to most as a smoldering hot billionaire, his secret weapon- the ability to shapeshift into a strong and deadly bear- allows him to be the most ruthless enforcer of the Sotari, a paranormal organization tasked with keeping the course of Fate on the right track. But when the ailing health of his grandmother leads him back home, the luscious curves of his childhood nemesis will be too much to resist...

Leah Ridgeway never expected Caden to give her the time of day. With his abs cut from stone and powerful, strong arms, she knows there's no chance he's interested in her handful of curves. But Caden is tormented by thoughts of her beautiful body. And when evil threatens Leah's very life, Caden will stop at nothing to keep her safe...and claim her as his mate...

Awesome  short-novel, just the kind of story that I love when it comes to shapeshifters and mating-bond.
Caden and Leah are an amazing and very hot couple. He's a bear shapeshifter and Leah is a normal girl. Their attraction, the dominant character of him and his ways a bit caveman style, who doesn't want to allow anything and nothing to get between him and his mate and the stubbornness of her, with her sharp tongue, are the strength of this story.
Leah is human but subconsciously, since she was only a teenager, she fell in love with Caden, but because of their age difference he rejected her badly, hurting her feelings, but fate, and his " sweet Granny"  remedying the damage done by him, although Leah is anything but condescending.
I'm sorry only for its brevity, it would have deserved a real novel, giving them more space, I really like how this author writes.
I'm very curious about Sotari, the organization Caden works for and I absolutely want to read the story of the last vampire that Sotari wants to kill at all costs.

Wild Nights with a Lone Wolf by Elisabeth Staab- Lone Wolf #1

Agent Sherri Walker needs a change of scenery. Her former lover nearly tanked her career, forcing her to take a leave of absence. A few drinks and a one-night stand with a sinfully hot stranger look like a great way to take her mind off her troubles, until that stranger’s past lands her in a new world of danger.

Asher Hughes left his outlaw pack but couldn’t ditch the bad blood. A lone wolf who’s always refused to bond, Ash is left wanting more after one night with a beautiful, spirited human. Worse, it puts Sherri in the crosshairs of an old pack enemy, and the only way to save her is to claim her as his own.

I really enjoyed Sherry and Asher' s story, in some ways a little different from the books that I usually read about shapeshifters.
Sherry and Asher are so different, between them is the classic attraction that can strike when opposites attract, but unlike the usual it started as an adventure, a one night-stand a really hot one, but " thanks" to Asher's half-brother they met again and everything is going to happen certainly is not for his brotherly love, indeed ...
I found the plot quite original and the story well-written, very smooth and compelling while I was reading it.
For sure Asher had all his reasons for walking away from his pack and family; what keeps the pack together isn't the bond you used to read between wolves, everything is linked to power and dealing with outlaws activities, and loyalty is far from being one of the more i portant things.
Sherry is a great female character, strong, intelligent, sensual, but very unfortunate with her boyfriend choice.
Asher seems to be the classic dark and handsome guy, hot and above the rules, but in fact he has his principles and his rules.
What I liked the most in their story it's they're not soul mates, eternal love professed from the start, they share passion, a bond of trust that begin in a short time, but as it is written, the author leave space for them to know one another and see how it can go between them.
I was very intrigued with Asher's brother, Jett, and I hope it will be space to him and his story in the future, because he deserves it.

Cursed by Ice by Jacquelyn Frank- Immortal Brothers #2

As punishment for plotting with his brothers to steal immortality, Garreth is suffering a freezing torment until the end of time. Again and again, his fierce fighter’s physique is frozen into a chiseled ice sculpture, his heart hardening like a diamond in his chest—only to thaw and resume the chilling torture. Until, like his older brother Dethan, he is offered a reprieve from a goddess—in exchange for his allegiance in a celestial civil war.

Garreth lives to fight and fights to live. But while laying siege to an embattled city, he finds another reason to go on—a beautiful warrior woman named Sarielle, who commands a mythic beast through a mysterious and powerful bond. Terrified of her strength, the city rulers have kept her captive, and now she refuses to submit to a new master. As Garreth seeks to unleash her passion and melt the icy resistance of her heart, will he become her ultimate salvation—or lead them both to greater destruction?

Mea culpa ... I had forgotten how Jacquelyn Frank sometimes likes to "surprise" her readers, not always in a positive way. I admit I had lowered my guard.
In fact I just finished to decant the praises on Dethan, in the previous book review and here he falls from the pedestal, but let's go with order.
"Cursed by Ice" is the book on Garreth, Dethan's little brother, while the female protagonist is Sarielle, a woman who has an extraordinary power: she's a wrena, a woman tied up body and soul to a wyvern, a dragon.

I liked the book enough, although it doesn't convinced me in everything.
Garreth is a great fighter, but also an idealist and this often makes him wrong while he approaches towards the reality of things and different cultures. I really liked the way he tries to earn the trust of Sarielle, his protective instinct toward her, but also to her dragon. His honesty and lack of ulterior motive in wanting to help, unfortunately sometimes his way of thinking and some choices that are a bit tortuous.
Sarielle and her dragon are the characters in the book that fascinated me the most, their bond and their story, a unique relationship almost "mother-child", even for the way she has managed to create the bond with this creature, stealing an egg, and then waiting for the birth of the little one and becoming its only reference as a real mother. A scary Dragon, which is actually still a big baby who needs pampering, but it becomes extremely dangerous and  protective with Sarielle.
She chose this life to be precious and indispensable and so protect her sisters, although it proved to be a double-edged sword, since the girls then become the easiest way to put her under blackmail and make her a slave to those who govern the city until the arrival of Garreth.
Garreth must pass several tests to win Sarielle's trust and love, almost always exceeds these tests, sometimes not, thanks to the "help" of his brother and a female figure and a bit disturbing, Davine, who to maintain her privileges does everything to lure away Garreth from Sarielle. And here are the painful note between me and this book: Dethan and his totally unacceptable behavior, and he's even a little coward, leaving all the dirty work to Davine. Maybe the distance from his wife made him really bad ... but where is the brave warrior, who speaks his mind freely that had so fascinated me in "Cursed by Fire"? I'm perplexed to say the least.
Apart from this little, very personal problem with Dethan character, I still think it's an interesting series to follow, full of magic, passion, intrigue and action, with a touch of unpredictability, because of the intervention of the gods in the lives of these four brothers, their mood and changes to plans that they will reserve them in the future.
Thanks to Netgalley and Ballantine Books for the book.

Anteprima: Wicked Ride by Rebecca Zanetti- Realm Enforcers #1

Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she’s not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne.
Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he’s landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He’s all male, all rough power—and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he’s one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks…

New series by Rebecca Zanetti, although to tell you the truth the Realm Enforcers is a spin-off from the popular paranormal romance series "Dark" Protectors ".
The protagonists in this case are "witches"term that suggests women when you read it, but I assure you that Kellan and his brothers are "very" males. They haven't nothing to envy with the vampires and shapeshifters we've learned about among the immortals of the Dark Protectors, guided and ruled by Dage Kayrs.
In fact, the magic of Dunne brothers and all their kind is related to quantum physics, their ability to manipulate things and use them as a weapon for their defense or attack depending on the situations, no potions, abracadabra and so on. Because of their powers the Dunne Brothers  are guardians and they protect the Coven of Nine, the powerful and feared congregation leader of all witches, and in case of danger they have carte blanche to dictate the rules for everything related to the components of the Coven.
Something that definitely they didn't regret, given the tendency of male characters of Ms Zanetti to be absolutely dominant.
The great thing though is to see them compared with their mates, who are never  sweet girls who are at home to make the sock.
In this case then, with Alexandra, Kellach has a tough one. He feels a strong attraction for her from the start and he has no problems to make obvious the thing, even if he doesn't  immediately recognize her as his predestined mate.
He is working undercover, infiltrating a motorcycle gang notorious for smuggling drugs and weapons into the city and he cannot reveal her his real identity and especially being an immortal
His spoken Irish and his ways slightly outside the rules make him irresistible, to say the least and even Alexandra's attitude and the fact that she is a COP don't stop him.
Alexandra cannot help but to be struck by Kellach, but she is a woman very attached to her principles and rules, a policewoman whose father was a bigwig of the drug trafficking in his hometown and that caused victims even among her friends. She is used to cope with the feelings she feels and rationalise all to avoid suffering, as has happened in the past and with Kellach things are no different, as he is a suspect, a dangerous criminal and to read while Alexandra, more than once, stop and got arrested he and his brothers was really amazing and funny.
I love Rebecca Zanetti's characters, with their contradictions and features. They're so dominant, but the bond that binds them to their companions and the members of their family is really intense and they would do anything for them. Another thing that I like about this writer is like she put in the story secondary characters that are unique. In this case the King Dage Kayrs, entrusts Kellach with two "boys" (a demon and a vampire) to keep them engaged on the battlefield, and out of trouble. A particular interpretation of the concept of security, but to read these two "teenagers" immortals, blushing in front of a woman or tremble at the thought of being therefrom by her mother, and then when they're in action are two war machines, well it's one of those things that have made this one of my favorite author.
The plot is excellent, well written, full of action and hot scenes between Lex and Kellach, not to mention the sparks and the verbal battles, which always come when they're together.
I reccomend it to anyone who loves the books of this genre; Personally I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this SERIES, because when one of the brothers Dunne says something like: my wife will be gentle, submissive and she will wait at home for me, well then I think is going to be big big trouble for him, knowing Rebecca Zanetti, and for us is a lot of fun.
Thanks to Netgalley and Lyrical Press Kensington Books for the kind preview.

Alphas on the Prowl (Shifters Romance Boxed Set)

Alpha shifters are on the prowl, and they're used to getting what they want. But there's more to claiming a destined mate than raw power, and they'll have to prove themselves worthy – in more ways than one.

Alphas on the Prowl offers page after page of passion and pleasure in this box set featuring eleven NEW tantalizing shapeshifter tales from NY Times and USA Today best selling authors.

I received an ARC of Alphas on the Prowl in exchange of my honest review.

First thing I must say I really enjoy this box set about shifters and their mate. I think reading this short stories it's one of the best way to discover new authors. Write a short-story it's more difficult than write a complete novel, you have only a few pages to tell a good story, it's not so easy.
Now I'm going to review the box set.

“Wolf Fever by Catherine Vale
Curvy Isabella is about to discover exactly why she can't stop crushing on the gorgeous, and mysterious Marshall Reede. Can the plus size beauty handle the explosive passion of a sexy and edgy wolf?

Hot story and funny to read thanks to Isabella POV. The story is all about the "mating heat" between Isabella and her neighbor. Short but I enjoyed reading about their encounter during a mascarade.
RATING: 3 stars
A Shot At Lover by Gina Kincade
Micah mistakenly walks away from the man he loves. He watches from afar, suffering jealousy at the first sign of another man in his lover’s house. Will he convince Jason they belong together?

I really loved this story by Gina Kincade, sweet and so full of feelings, Micah's longing for Jason, the jealousy he feels, his desire to win back his ex-lover. One of my favourite story
 RATING: 4.5 stars

Dragon’s Dream Dancer by Jami Brumfield
Trey is on the hunt for a dangerous dream assassin and runs into a woman that shatters his reality. One problem, she's the sister of the woman he is duty bound to turn over to the authorities.

This was a surprise. I really liked the world created by Jami Brumfield, intriguing, and a story well written with a good plot, action and amazing characters.
RATING: 4 stars
Hers to Protect by Amy Lee Burgess
Hailey Green is the girl who got away. Ryan Campbell needs to prove he’s worth a second chance, but first he must accept the wolf as well as the woman.

Really nice story. Ryan did his worst in the past with Haley breaking her heart, because the truth about her, being a wolf, scared him. But now he wants to make it up to her, and he finds out he is still in love with her. I loved their story, it's beautiful and I really enjoyed reading it.
RATING: 4 stars
The Talented Mr. MacGregor by Tasha Black
Mild-mannered alpha JD MacGregor is every schoolgirl’s crush. Passions ignite when he ends up looking for clues (and his pants) at a dinner party where the guests are far from innocent.

I read it, but I wasn't very impressed with the story and its characters. I found it a little boring. I'm sorry.
RATING: 2 stars
Exiled: A Lunar Falls Novella by Lashell Collins
Exiled from his pack for conspiracy to commit treason against his Alpha, fate – and a beautiful woman from home – brings Zach Mason face-to-face with the one man who has vowed to kill him on sight.

I loved this one. Zach is everything Sarah doesn't need and want in her life, but he's her mate. A beautiful story, well written and I really liked them as a couple, their bond, their love for each other, but also their need to return home.
RATING: 4 stars

The Wolf In The Neighborhood by Phoenix Johnson
What do you do when your past comes back to haunt you?
Could a dark secret revealed by a new lover be something you could overlook just to have him?

Nice story. Krissy met her new neighbor Derek and from the beginning the attraction is mutual, but Derek is hot, but also a very good guy, and werewolf. But Krissy's ex fiancè is not so good, and the troubles start for them. The end seems to me a little bit cliffhanger.
RATING: 3 Stars

Scent of a Scandal by Annie Nicholas
Awe and Isnay have been secretly flirting, but they can’t be together since neither “of their packs will bless the union. Is desire to follow pack law stronger than their desire for each other?”

So sweet and amazing this story written by Annie Nicholas. I loved it and I want to read more more about them.
RATING: 5 stars

Desert Wolf 2 by Anna Lower
Nothing has ever scared this big, bad alpha as much as his mate’s pregnancy, especially when their quiet weekend getaway doesn't go according to plan. A whimsical tale of hope, fear, and undying love.

This is the kind of story why I'm in love so much with shapeshifters stories. Hot and sweet, and a mate so strong and dominant, but Who cares so much for his mate and their baby. I really enjoyed Desert Wolf.
RATING: 5 stars
Captive Moonlight by Sarah Mäkelä
When her betrothed, Joe, is taken captive by a group of men looking for werewolf laborers, it’s up to Charlotte to track him down and win him back—even if that means putting her own life on the line.”

I really liked the setting of the story and the two characters. Charlotte is very brave, she loves Joe and she's going to do everything she can to rescue him. A story a little dark, but I liked it very much.
