Alphas on the Prowl (Shifters Romance Boxed Set)

Alpha shifters are on the prowl, and they're used to getting what they want. But there's more to claiming a destined mate than raw power, and they'll have to prove themselves worthy – in more ways than one.

Alphas on the Prowl offers page after page of passion and pleasure in this box set featuring eleven NEW tantalizing shapeshifter tales from NY Times and USA Today best selling authors.

I received an ARC of Alphas on the Prowl in exchange of my honest review.

First thing I must say I really enjoy this box set about shifters and their mate. I think reading this short stories it's one of the best way to discover new authors. Write a short-story it's more difficult than write a complete novel, you have only a few pages to tell a good story, it's not so easy.
Now I'm going to review the box set.

“Wolf Fever by Catherine Vale
Curvy Isabella is about to discover exactly why she can't stop crushing on the gorgeous, and mysterious Marshall Reede. Can the plus size beauty handle the explosive passion of a sexy and edgy wolf?

Hot story and funny to read thanks to Isabella POV. The story is all about the "mating heat" between Isabella and her neighbor. Short but I enjoyed reading about their encounter during a mascarade.
RATING: 3 stars
A Shot At Lover by Gina Kincade
Micah mistakenly walks away from the man he loves. He watches from afar, suffering jealousy at the first sign of another man in his lover’s house. Will he convince Jason they belong together?

I really loved this story by Gina Kincade, sweet and so full of feelings, Micah's longing for Jason, the jealousy he feels, his desire to win back his ex-lover. One of my favourite story
 RATING: 4.5 stars

Dragon’s Dream Dancer by Jami Brumfield
Trey is on the hunt for a dangerous dream assassin and runs into a woman that shatters his reality. One problem, she's the sister of the woman he is duty bound to turn over to the authorities.

This was a surprise. I really liked the world created by Jami Brumfield, intriguing, and a story well written with a good plot, action and amazing characters.
RATING: 4 stars
Hers to Protect by Amy Lee Burgess
Hailey Green is the girl who got away. Ryan Campbell needs to prove he’s worth a second chance, but first he must accept the wolf as well as the woman.

Really nice story. Ryan did his worst in the past with Haley breaking her heart, because the truth about her, being a wolf, scared him. But now he wants to make it up to her, and he finds out he is still in love with her. I loved their story, it's beautiful and I really enjoyed reading it.
RATING: 4 stars
The Talented Mr. MacGregor by Tasha Black
Mild-mannered alpha JD MacGregor is every schoolgirl’s crush. Passions ignite when he ends up looking for clues (and his pants) at a dinner party where the guests are far from innocent.

I read it, but I wasn't very impressed with the story and its characters. I found it a little boring. I'm sorry.
RATING: 2 stars
Exiled: A Lunar Falls Novella by Lashell Collins
Exiled from his pack for conspiracy to commit treason against his Alpha, fate – and a beautiful woman from home – brings Zach Mason face-to-face with the one man who has vowed to kill him on sight.

I loved this one. Zach is everything Sarah doesn't need and want in her life, but he's her mate. A beautiful story, well written and I really liked them as a couple, their bond, their love for each other, but also their need to return home.
RATING: 4 stars

The Wolf In The Neighborhood by Phoenix Johnson
What do you do when your past comes back to haunt you?
Could a dark secret revealed by a new lover be something you could overlook just to have him?

Nice story. Krissy met her new neighbor Derek and from the beginning the attraction is mutual, but Derek is hot, but also a very good guy, and werewolf. But Krissy's ex fiancè is not so good, and the troubles start for them. The end seems to me a little bit cliffhanger.
RATING: 3 Stars

Scent of a Scandal by Annie Nicholas
Awe and Isnay have been secretly flirting, but they can’t be together since neither “of their packs will bless the union. Is desire to follow pack law stronger than their desire for each other?”

So sweet and amazing this story written by Annie Nicholas. I loved it and I want to read more more about them.
RATING: 5 stars

Desert Wolf 2 by Anna Lower
Nothing has ever scared this big, bad alpha as much as his mate’s pregnancy, especially when their quiet weekend getaway doesn't go according to plan. A whimsical tale of hope, fear, and undying love.

This is the kind of story why I'm in love so much with shapeshifters stories. Hot and sweet, and a mate so strong and dominant, but Who cares so much for his mate and their baby. I really enjoyed Desert Wolf.
RATING: 5 stars
Captive Moonlight by Sarah Mäkelä
When her betrothed, Joe, is taken captive by a group of men looking for werewolf laborers, it’s up to Charlotte to track him down and win him back—even if that means putting her own life on the line.”

I really liked the setting of the story and the two characters. Charlotte is very brave, she loves Joe and she's going to do everything she can to rescue him. A story a little dark, but I liked it very much.

Ruby by Jeffe Kennedy

Danielle Sosna has no problem denying herself in order to achieve her goals—after all, that attitude landed her a dream job at Vogue Paris. But in New Orleans for one last assignment before heading overseas, she's faced with the most decadent of temptations. Seductive Cajun chef Bobby Prejean takes Dani's strength of will as a challenge, and offers her a night of wild indulgence—if she will agree to obey his every command…
Dani can't resist Prejean's invitation to join him in a world of carnal desire, complete with fetish costumes and masks. Determined to keep her emotional distance, she gives Prejean everything but her name. A night becomes a week, as she spends Mardi Gras suspended…in the delicious space where pleasure meets pain.
Too late, she realizes the cloak of anonymity has not protected her—and that chasing her dream might come at the expense of her heart.

Book three of Facets of Passion

Food and sex: the pleasures of life.
Great food, cooked by a famous chef, who in real life is also a Dom.

How could I resist to this combination, if we add the decadent charm of New Orleans and the irresistible "cajun" of Prejean's accent, you got me.
The book at its start has one of the funniest scenes I've read lately, imagine a chef who angrily throws out from his local a client guilty of ruining his creations to follow a diet, terrible start for them but it's really a good idea for their first meeting.
No love at first sight, definitely, but this does not limit  a casual relationship in which Prejean will introduce Danielle BDSM reality, with everything that goes with it.

A pity that the story is not a little longer, so it could give them more space, but it is absolutely sensual and very hot.
I have only read this book in this Facet of Passion, but it was not a hindrance to reading the story.
Thanks to Netgalley and Carina Press for the book.

As soon as I started reading the first few lines of this book I pulled a big sigh of relief, as happens to me a bit sometimes when I see my dearest friends after years of distance. Relieved to see that are doing well, that everything is fine between them and, above all, that things have not changed, if not  for the better.
Reading the first pages and finding Søren, Nora and Kingsley together, in the present time and find out all these things about them made me really happy.

"If she hadn't loved Søren before, she would fall in love with him again for looking at her thirty-eight-years-old body with the same desire that had once gazed on her naked seventeen-years-old form.
...
Time had only increased Søren's beauty. The gray in his hair could barely be' distinguished from the blond. The years had sharpened his features, scraped off the rough edges, and sculpted him into a man worthy of all the respect and love she had to give him."

"The Virgin" tells several stories, the "now" and especially the memories of important moments of the past of this "Unholy Trinity" oby Ms Reisz, moments that changed their lives and left a mark.
See a love that over time, is able to fight the difficulties and resist creating a bond stronger than ever, it's something that I love very much, the famous fairy tale you tell a child and with Søren, Nora and Kingsley, this is it, a fable a bit kinky, but still a beautiful fairy tale. Sometimes seeing the intimacy that exists between Søren and Kingsley, about which Ms Reisz didn't need to use a lot of words, it's almost embarrassing, it seems to be envious voyeurs Who are prying.
Nora, Søren, Kingsley and Juliettgaffe together in a castle in Scotland, in the most absolute secrecy for a wedding. Between whom and with whom? All the possibilities and the doubts remain in play until the end. Martiages are those moments where everyone a bit come to terms with the "if and but" in their life. And in the life of Søren, Nora and Kingsley there was a moment of profound rupture, they never spoken between them about it, unless referring to it as "that year".
The year in which Nora ran away from Søren, the year she became pregnant with Kingsley decideding then to abort, the year in which Kingsley himself disappeared from Søren's life and for his luck his voluntary exile took him to meet Juliette. Because all this happened? Because let me tell you from the bottom of  my heart: Søren "royally fucked up" with Nora. And she was strong enough to go through hell,  to be consistent while suffering, but she managed to get away from him.

"Once upon a time she thought the world would end if se ever to live without him.
And here she was, without him. And here was the world, spinning on its axis as usual.
She had survived the end of the world and found at the end a new beginning. And if she'd survived the end of the world, surely she could survive anything now."

This story leaves, to my eyes, a monumental Kingsley, Søren has always been his strength but also his biggest weakness, but in this case his loyalty to Nora is absolute, this time he has made a choice, that, to me, it puts him at another level compared to Søren. I loved him through and through, his weaknesses, his lucidity and his heart. Kingsley loves with all over himself, is willing to do everything, even to suffer and stand back if it need tojuve done, just as he did with Juliette.
For Nora he made perhaps even more because he goes against Søren, before with a sharper mind, disappearing from circulation to protect the woman's decision and then he faces him, hitting Søren  with the force of a train.
It is also thanks to him that  from this whole story is born a new Nora, different, perhaps Søren is fearing to lose her, but it's a fear that eventually he must learn to accept if the truly loves her.

"... That was the most scared I've ever seen her, and even then, she was thinking of you.'
Søren didn't speak but he didn't look away. He held Kingsley's gaze unapolotegic.
'It's funny,' Kingsley said as he made a sudden realization. 'For over ten years I've thought One thing about her. Yes, She's beautiful, beyond beautiful. Kinky. Smart. Every man's dream. But I always thought perhaps... she wasn't good enough for you. This little girl from Nowhere, Connecticut, with a nobody mother and a piece of shit father. How could she ever be' worthy of you? Now I'm starting to think something different. You bidè behind your collar and get to play God while the rest of us do your bidding and suffer the consequences. You get the glory. She get the bruises. Maybe it's you who's Not worthy of her. Maybe it's not you who's worthy of me either.'"

Throughout this who"The Virgin" is? She is a young nun encountered by Nora in "that year", an important person, who helps Nora at a time when she's really broken, uncertain and unsure about her future. An innocent person who is able to see clearly through Nora's life  and urges her to change and to discover her potential, a new aspect of herself, so she can returnto fight in the real world.
I know, I said it all and I said nothing. There are so many things that I'd like to tell, but it wouldn't be fair to do so. Just wait and hope that they decide to publish the series "The White Years" in Italy.
Ms Reisz has made it known that she has finished to write the last book in this series, "The
Queen". I can't wait to read it, but I'm sad, because we're coming to the end of  this amazing series, but I think it's very important for an author to be able to put a stop at the right moment in the story.

Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin MIRA for the kind preview.

His Client by Ava March- His Client #1

Love wasn't supposed to be part of the bargain…

On every visit to Madame Delacroix’s brothel, Nathaniel Travers requests the same man. Stunningly handsome and highly skilled, Jasper not only shares Nate’s fondness for wickedly erotic games and black leather corsets, but he has become a trusted confidant. And Jasper’s the only person who knows Nate longs for a committed relationship with his childhood friend, Peter Edmonton.
Unrequited love hurts, but it hurts even more when the object of affection is in love with another. Jasper Reed has been working at Delacroix’s for a decade. He’s saved enough to retire, yet he remains at the decadent London brothel. Leaving would mean leaving Nate and the hope someday the rugged gentleman would stop pining for his best friend and realize he loves Jasper, just as Jasper loves him.
Edmonton’s impending marriage looms before them, causing Jasper to take another look at his stubborn heart. Yet Jasper’s a bastard whore, and Nate’s the nephew of a viscount. Surely there can’t be any hope for them…

I love Ava March's regency books, I like her way of writing simple and smooth and her plots that speak of forbidden love and about a London that already at that time had many dark sides to hide at the sight of High Society.

Having a noble title and be the sole heir in life for a man at the time meant having him also a lot of pressure because of duties towards the whole family; among them there was also to make a good marriage and have heirs. Homosexuals were almost forced to live a double life, to avoid scandal, but also to prevent the jail itself, because in that civil Britain at the time there you were going to end, because sodomy was considered a crime.
The love stories written by this author are always very passionate, romantic, but also a bit kinky. The reality, however, always seeps through her characters ' thoughts.
Jasper is a wonderful character, living and working in a brothel, with exclusively male clientele.  He is in love with Nathaniel for years, but he is quite realistic to look for evidence that sentiment towards his client. He knows that in life, outside the walls of the brothel, there is no place for a relationship between them, in the light of the sun.

Over the years becomes the lover, confidant, friend, the only one with whom Nathaniel can be himself, and even his wildest fantasies forbidden.
Over the years they become the lover, confidant, friend, he's the only one with whom Nathaniel can be himself, even with his wildest fantasies forbidden.

From a financial point of view, Jasper could retire, but he indulges in order to continue to see Nathaniel, but when he realizes not being able to remain detached, the he is hopelessly in love, hedecides to make a change in his life, to think more to himself and start again from nothing a new existence, without Nathaniel.
I loved him for that, for his desire to try to build something, not only living the illusion of love, but to fight against his feelings, because he realizes he  deserves more than a few fabulous nights, with what still remains only a customer.

Nathaniel is a dear guy, Jasper is really like a friend and lover for him, but he had slices of salami on the eyes, he thinks himself in love with his childhood friend, but it's just an infatuation.  He just don't realize what Jasper became for him, of his importance in his life, until he loses him.
Theirs is a beautiful story, a love that shows all its facets, I loved seeing them together, read what they had to say and I worshipped Jasper and the truth that seeped through his words and his thoughts.
For those who love the books M/M but also the regency I recommend this author and her books.

Thanks to Netgalley and the author for the book.

Rock Addiction by Nalini Singh

A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…

Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.

A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…

Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…

Nalini Singh is one of my favorite authors, as evidenced by the presence of her books put in plain evidence in my library.
I must spread a blanket pitifully on editorial choices of publishers in our country which obviously have big problems in knowing how to select the authors to publish, especially when it comes to a series of books.
With Rock Addiction, Ms Singh  goes back to write  a contemporary romance, after the huge success of international sales of her books paranormal romance of Guild Hunter series and Psy-Changeling. I say go back to contemporary romance, because in reality she started her adventure as a writer with this genre.
Rock Addiction, first book in the Rock Kiss series, amazed me somewhat for its strong erotic component, I didn't expect it, I was surprised, but certainly I'm not complaining, Nalini Singh can be very addictive, always and everywhere.
I appreciated the story written by the author, although the context chosen by her, she's outside of the usual cliche: he is Fox, the male protagonist, a rock star who could have any woman at his feet, to have undergone has very clear ideas about who wants by his side and know what needs to be done to get the attention of the only woman he desires.
He doesn't want to scare her knowing now how serious are his intentions,  it might make her escape, and he knows to have some cards in his favor to play: he is irresistible, hot, a little bit forbidden charm, everything that Molly has always tried to avoid. Fox offers a short relationship, a month during which they can explore the attraction they are feeling, time to convince her that he's the right man for her, he wants to make lose her head, and then earn her trust and love and break down all the barriers that Molly has been able to build around herself over time for fear of suffering.
I really liked Fox, it is needless to say, so dama hot, but also a loyal man, brutally honest, stubborn and very protective, a mix that is lethal for me. A character to be discovered, by reading his story and going beyond the surface of things.
Molly does not convinced me much like female protagonist, I'm nit very fond with her... maybe a little too timid for my taste, obsessed with fear of follow father's footsteps, but basically her fear of mass media and their attention towards her and Fox as a couple is more than justifiable given the unfriendly treatment that newspapers had with her when she was a young girl. I liked  a lot her ability to get the tune right away with the Fox group, to transmit her warmth and disinterested affection to them, a breath of oxygen for the boys.
Inthe story of this author people around the protagonists always have important and fundamental role in their lives.
I adored the rest of the band, the deep bond that unites them, that fame and money have not scratched, they grew up together, they overcome all adversities, always together, despite their deep differences. They understand Rachele other without words, they protect each other, a real family and Molly became because of Fox. David, Abe and Noah intrigue me a lot, maybe because Ms Singh's characters  always have some dark sides, troubled and mysterious.
Definitely a promising series to follow in the future, I expect great things.
Thanks to Netgalley for the book.

Beyond the Velvet Rope by Tiffany Ashley

Welcome to Club Babylon: where the A-list VIPs come to play

Scoring a gig at Miami’s Club Babylon is a fantasy come true for New York promoter Thandie Shaw. The hottest club on the strip is a magnet for major South Beach movers and shakers. And Thandie’s about to meet the biggest player of them all.
Babylon owner Elliot Richards is macho, arrogant, sexist—everything Thandie doesn’t want in a boss or lover. Elliot is also the most erotic man who’s ever wanted to take her to bed. But Thandie’s no fool. Even as he tries to seduce her into a world of intense and shocking passion, she knows it’s too good to last…especially after she uncovers Elliot’s explosive secrets.
Thandie’s going down a dangerous road, and she’s risking a lot more than her career. Torn between doubt and desire, will she have to pay the ultimate price?
Darkly sensual and deeply moving, Beyond the Velvet Rope takes you into a world of uncontrollable desire and unexpected consequences.

I have to confess that my mind is a littore twisted, just seeing the word "rope" in the title and I immediately thought it was a book of erotic BDSM, I was wrong.
Not that the book is lacking of eroticism and sex scenes with  contents very hot and for adults.
Beyond the Velvet Rope speaks of a world of elite, the Miami that often appears in the TV series, VIP parties, a city full of beautiful half-naked bodies of women covered by a few inches of fabric, limousine, money, champagne and exclusive clubs that have people that counts.
It would be a lie to say that this city full of excess is not attractive in my eyes.
The male protagonist Elliott is one of the most arrogant and sexist men that I have ever read, often irritating to self-confidence and his being so dominant. In the reality probably if I met this kind of type of man I'll shoot him on sight, but in the books are my favorite characters.
Thandie the female protagonist, despite being a career woman, aware of her beauty and accustomed to using it in her work, cunning and smart in handling Vip and unwanted avanches, but eventually she can't resist Elliott.
Their passion is burning and intense, but their personalities are always in continual conflict, making their story very compelling, as well as plot twists that are discovered
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for the book.

TITLE: Beyond the Velvet Rope
AUTHOR: Tiffany Ashley
EDITOR: Harlequin

How to Reprimand Your Rock Star by Mina Vaughn

How to Discipline Your Vampire.
Keaton è molto divertente e molto sexy,  veramente imprevedibile, sensuale e irriverente e adorabile.

In this fun and saucy romance novel, all-star college basketball player Thea dominates on the courts—and off—with a rock star who is determined to win her over.
Thea is a star basketball player at UConn on track to be Rookie of the Year. That is, if she can stay focused on the game. Lately that hasn’t been going so well, as her knee has been bothering her. But that’s not the only thing on her mind…
Ever since rock star Keaton Lowe surprised her in the girl’s locker room, Thea can’t stop thinking about him. On top of his status and enticing ways, he seems to know everything about her. But some of his actions cross the line, and Keaton needs to be punished. Will Thea keep her head in the game, or get distracted by her other favorite pastime—reprimanding her rock star?

This is the second book I read by Mina Vaughn. The first was amazing and very, very funny, in this case I was expecting maybe a little too much and so despite being a cute and enjoyable read, I must say that it does not seem to me on the dame level as How to Discipline Your Vampire.
I liked the setting in real basketball women's College Sports,  the basket is a sport that I love and I follow, and then I found myself taken from Thea's sporting events.
The BDSM contents in this book are different from the usual, lighter, with a young girl who discovers in herself the desire to dominate a guy who has more experience than her wheel in this field, and it's definitely a challenge not simple to deal with, but she is committed to the most determined to discover this new side of herself and try it with Keaton. It isn't the usual relationship between a strong Domme and her submissive.
Keataon is really fun e very hot, he's unpredictable, sensual and irreverent and adorable.
Their story a real itinerant adventure, because of Championship's matches and the shows of him. They must do somersaults to behold and live their story, but this is one of the things that is fascinating in this book.
Nice to read, written in the usual vein of irony that distinguishes this writer's books, a romance definitely different from usual.

Guilty Pleasure by Lora Leigh

Marty Mathews had always known about the secret, forbidden pleasures that the women she had grown up with enjoyed. Women whose husbands or lovers were members of the exclusive “Club,” where they took a selected “third” into their beds.  And there is one man—a dangerous, forbidden man—who is part of this world and who has haunted Marty’s dreams for years.  But she had been the FBI agent assigned to shadow him, making him completely off limits. . .That is until Khalid is cleared and Marty is released from her assignment.  Now, all bets are off. . .
The beautiful, fierce Marty Mathews is the one woman Khalid hungers for like no other and is the one woman he dare not let himself have.  His past dogs his every step and danger lurks around every corner.  If he wants to keep her safe, he must stay away from her.  But the power of their desire is something they cannot deny—and once Marty is his, Khalid will do whatever it takes to keep her in his bed and in his arms.

Guilty pleasure is the eleventh book in Lora Leigh's erotic series  Bound Hearts, in which its male protagonists are members of an exclusive club, attended by influential people, rich, and unsuspected who loves to share their willing women, with another man in a ménage a trois.
After reading the first few pages I thought about a case of homonymy of the author, it was difficult to believe that this story could have been written by one of my favorite authors. Unfortunately, however, it is hers, a complete disappointment. Let's say that I consider it an empty step.
Khalid had the potential to be a wonderful male protagonist and the contrast of his dominant personality and "physicality" with Marty was perfect to make her a worthy companion. The attraction they feel for each other is so obvious for years that everyone is aware, even Marty's father and Godfather, which are members of the "famous" club tothese the girl is not to obscure about how it might evolve her relationship with Khalid and his habit of sharing his women. All of this, however, was lost due to the lack of a good plot, which could hold up the history between the two.
The book is full by an endless series of sexually scenes described explicitly and with very colorful language, but this is typical of the way of writing of Ms Leigh. Where is the problem then? It's the missing of a link taking everything put it together.
The scenes between Khalid and Marty are repeated until the boredom, the situations are similar if not the same, and in the first part of the book, the dialogue between the two repeat after a few pages almost the same words, making everything predictable. At this point, what had to be moments filled with eroticism, became for me like reading mechanical performance between two bodies.

I haven't found the ability that I love in this author to involve me in her stories, creating characters who move me with their stories and feelings.
The ingredients were all there: the heartbreaking past of Khalid and his secrets, the hatred that his brothers feel against him, Marty, that besides being a beautiful woman, is also a great FBI agent, and the third man chosen by Khalid for their ménage, Shayne, who is a person for whom Marty anyway feels a strong attraction.
All these things have been used so very shallow in the story, I can't say the author hasn't tried, but the result is a little unfortunate in my opinion and unconvincing.
The level of sensuality as you may have figured it out for me was somewhat undone by the whole context, but given the content of the book, I can say the reading is reccomended to adults.
Thanks to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the book.

Ravenous by Annie Nicholas

Suffer the hunger.
Pia Blyton wants it all. A steady boyfriend, love and her independence. But to ignore her succubus nature is to welcome chaos. Every three days she must orgasm to feed. Bad sex isn’t an option. Stave off the hunger for too long and her demon side peeks out, and its tastes are much less discerning than hers.
One bad day, one wrong decision, and her demon takes control of her libido and kisses all her best intentions goodbye.
Brokenhearted and ashamed, Pia is dragged home to Lake City by Zur-Sin, a vampire her father paid to find her. Caught in a world where mortal desires are seen as a weakness, Pia needs to figure out how to protect her heart from her deepest longings.

Prequel of the book Starved for Love by Annie Nicholas, I had already read it in the past and I loved the story.
Ravenous is a short-novel which told the what happened to Pia during her attempt to live a stable relationship with a human she loves, going against her succubus nature. Her kind must feed every three days through orgasms during sex with other people. Usually for other demons of her race is not an issue, the nature has  created them with all the means of seducing the possible candidates, with a lot of pheromones released in the environment, but Pia does not want to live eating through myriads of occasional one-night stand, she needs to establish a bond with her partner, she wants to love a big love , virtually impossible, especially with a human who would exchange her sexual behavior as cheating. This sentimental side of the Pia creates big problems and her attempt to fulfill her dream turns out to be a big mistake, pushing her to a some kind of suicide attempt for lack of nourishment.

Fortunately she is found from Zur-Sin, a vampire sent by Pia's father worried about her daughter.
The story is cute, but I liked more Starved for Love. Though I really liked to read the story and find out how was born the bond between Zur-Sin, Cooper, Johnny and Pia.
Zur-Sin is definitely my favorite character, but you know, I have a soft spot for vampires, especially if so ancient and intimidating. But with Pia I discover another side of his personality, and I loved him.

Funny with and lot of hot sex, on the other hand with the nature of Pia could not be otherwise. I hope the series goes ahead with the stories of other characters such as Cooper and the mysterious Gigi, the little shapeshifter who meets Pia during her stay in Zur-Sin's nest.

Before she became Manhattan's most famous dominatrix, Nora Sutherlin was merely a girl called Eleanor…
Rebellious, green-eyed Eleanor never met a rule she didn't want to break. She's sick of her mother's zealotry and the confines of Catholic school, and declares she'll never go to church again. But her first glimpse of beautiful, magnetic Father Marcus Stearns—Søren to her and only her—and his lust-worthy Italian motorcycle is an epiphany. Eleanor is consumed—yet even she knows being in love with a priest can't be right.
But when one desperate mistake nearly costs Eleanor everything, it is Søren who steps in to save her. When she vows to repay him with complete obedience, a whole world opens before her as he reveals to her his deepest secrets that will change everything.
Danger can be managed—pain, welcomed. Everything is about to begin.

Speechless. This book has thrilled me so much, that now after I finished it, I feel like I am empty after it giving me so much and at the same time now it leaves me here alone trying to express in words what I felt reading it.
I' m not exaggerating in saying that is the most beautiful love story I've ever read and I still lack many pieces of their mosaic. Why Nora, Søren and Kingsley for me are this: an amazing mosaic, an artwork that you have to appreciate as a whole, each piece is different, but fits perfectly with each other and separately would not have the same beauty and would not have been able to create in me this tangle of thoughts and emotions.
When I say the most beautiful love story ever read I don't mean something like Romeo and Juliet. The Saint, like all books in the series the Original Sinners by Ms Reisz, is a reading for adults with sex scenes described in a very explicit way and important BDSM content, due to the nature of the protagonists, who express their sexuality with acts of sadism and masochism, always consensual.
Yet despite this, how much love there is in this book, in all its protagonists.
The book begins in the present with Nora that is going through a moment for her really full of pain, she is alone in Germany, but a person who knows her follow her, and manages to convince her to accept his help, although Nora accepting this help, this person who can help her to forget for a night her lacerating pain, will have its price, but she is willing to pay it.
She goes back with her mind in the past telling him things as a fairy tale of her story with Søren, so she can help him to understand them and understand Kinglsey.
This should be the book of Søren, where he recounts his past and his meeting with Nora, through which the author wants to let us know how it may born the relationship that binds them.
I can't see this story just so, it would be simplistic to put him at the center of everything and that's it. He is the Sun? Yes, he is that for Nora, for Kingsley, but in this story Nora is a bright star that shines with her own light, I was enchanted by this rebellious girl, who has already learn at fifteen differiate she's different from the others, but she accepts the challenge and she decides to be herself, though this may make her suffer.
She does not have a father figure, or better lose him that find him, her mother didn't make mystery to see her as a big problem in her life, a mistake of youth that has prevented her from realizing her dream of becoming a nun.
And then comes Father Stearns, an older man, who because of his role in the community, it should be for her just a fantasy but a prohibited one: but she feels drawn inexorably from the new priest of her church.
Søren, alias father Marcus Stearns, recognizes that for him Eleonor is "the One", his greatest temptation and the biggest danger for his role.
The beauty of their story, their relationship is that they don't hide their feeling behind fears or prejudices.
Søren is the only person who encourages Nora, guides her to believe in herself and tries to protect her and keep her safe from the dangers that surround her. He push her to grow and in the worst moment of Nora's life he intervenes to help her, exposing himself firsthand.
Their relationship remains chaste when she's so young, he needs that Nora is able to grow, live a normal life as much as possible, making her experience, so she'll be able to really choose him because the baggage that Søren bring back with him is no small thing.
His childhood was awful, the discover of his sadistic nature for him it was a real shock and he has found a balance with himself and his ability to control through the Jesuits and the Church. He will never give up this part of himself, but he doesn't want and can't give up Nora and their bond.
In addition to Søren past by is also recounted the evolution of their story and Kingsley is a major protagonist in this moment. He knows many secrets of Søren, he is very close to him, but he can't help but become part of Nora's life. Since his first appearance I adored him.
The strength of the character of Søren I think it's the acceptance for himself, he has no remorse, he found his balance and this is his strength and what can pass on to others. Sometimes he plays the role of "avenging angel" in a terrible way, but I would not have expected anything less from him, and the fact he did not repent of his actions is what conveys a deep awareness to others of how strong his love and protective instincts are towards them.
Perhaps, in comparison to other books in the series Original Sinners, the number of sex scenes featured in this one is minor, even if nothing is missing from this point of view ... but I think the intent of Ms Reisz was really to put at the center of everything the bond between Nora and Søren.
I devoured the first half of the book, I laughed with the effrontery to Nora, I was amused by the imperturbability of Søren's answers to Nora, I was enchanted by his ability to put her first before everything to protect her and help her.
Then I stop, I didn't want to finish the book, and I kept rereading the pages back and in the end I decided to continue, knowing that once I've finished reading it I was going to feel empty. Madness? I don't know, I don't think so, I think and I hope that many of you thanks to this story will feel the same things I felt.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin MIRA for the kind preview

Exclave - a BDSM erotic romance bundle by Emily Ryan- Davis

Partecipa a eventidi beneficenza.

VOTO : 3 stelline.

TITOLO: Excave- a BDSM erotic romance bundle
AUTRICE: Emily Ryan-Davis
SERIE: Exclave # 1& 2

Exclave is a bundle that contains two BDSM novellas by Emily Ryan-Davis.

CLAIMING LAUREN.

One night should have been enough...

Twenty-seven-year-old Lauren Brant is the perfect society wife. She hosts dinners for her husband’s colleagues. She attends charity functions. She’s entirely appropriate…except for her clawing need to submit to a man she knows only as Master.
Unable to deny her cravings, she arranges to meet Master. No names, no faces, nothing but submission and sensation. Except it isn’t enough. Even before the night ends, Lauren needs more.
But “more” isn’t part of the arrangement and she returns to her polished life only to discover her estranged husband has come home. After five years of being invisible to Jacob Brant, Lauren doesn’t know what to do with him. He, however, knows exactly what to do with her…

Between the two stories of this Exclave bundle, this is my favourite.
Lauren's frustration in living her married life with practically a stranger is palpable. Money, prestige and a seemingly perfect life are not enough for her and she decides to live in the reality her fantasies, but also her deep need.
The story is pure eroticism. The opportunity, but also the manner in which the meeting takes place between Master and Lauren are very steamy. I'd say the BDSM dynamics have a very intense level and also well written, with the right dose of mystery, which increases the allure of the forbidden.
I really liked this novel and I prefer to let you discover on your own the little surprise in the story, although reading it, between the lines, you can guess something.

 DOMINATING AMY

Till-death-do-us-part should have been enough…
Mac Corcoran spent a long time running from the specter of his parents’ abusive marriage. He’s worked hard to suppress his dark urges and channeled his energy into building his own relationship upon a bedrock of respect and equality.
It takes two people to make a marriage work, however, and when Amy Corcoran’s submissive needs hit a breaking point, her only options are to walk away from the man she loves or force him to acknowledge her as the woman she is now. Even if that woman isn’t the same one he married ten years earlier.
With no more time for running, can Mac overcome his fear and be the Dominant man Amy needs him to be or will fear of repeating the past cost him the only woman he’s ever loved?

What I appreciate in this story is the fact that Amy continues to love her husband and wants to find in him a partner to satisfy her need for submission. Surely she chooses to shock a little bit her husband, but she faces the possibility of losing him forever, so she is forced to come to terms with an extreme choice. On the other hand in the story Mac has a certain tendency to be a kind of Dominating guyby. They have to find a balance to make the things right as a couple.
Nice idea , I liked the story.

Thanks to Netgalley and Emily Ryan-Davis for the books.
