After having seen Hope, Drake and Paxton grew up as childhood friends in the Dreamworld in the previous books, finally we see them as adults and the time has come to understand Hope’s destiny and find out if her dream for peace between the Realm and their enemy the Kurjans is linked to her fate. 

The book can't be read as a standalone, the plot has twist and turns strongly connected with the past. I don't love spoilers so it's hard write about this story, the plot is a masterpiece, engaging, with a lot of action scenes. Hope's fate is not only about her choice between Drake and Paxton, their romance story, but there's also her role in the ritual of the Seven against Ulric, the enemy who could destroy their world. A war with no holds barred. 

It"s a story about family, friendship, love and most of all trust, loyalty and total unselfishness. Talking about the characters in this story I really loved Hope, Paxton and Zane, Hope's father. Hope nature as only female vampire, among the immortals is an unsolved mistery, because she seems almost human, fragile in the Realm World, she can't heal herself, she hasn't special skills as the others, but she conquered her role as leader strategist in the battlefield. Everyone vampires, demons, shapeshifters, follow her lead, because she's the best. 

She deeply cares for her family and friends and she feels the responsability to find a way for a truce in the war. Paxton’s childhood with his father was a nightmare, the only kindness showed to him was from Hope's mother and father, Janie and Zane and this gave him a purpose, a mission in his life: protect Hope, no matter what. He's an enigma, full of secrets and surprises, at one point nobody seems to know who the real Paxton is. 

And Zane? Sometimes it's so strange for me to think about Zane and Janie as parents. More than ten years ago, in the series he was a child himself, than a boy, now he's the powerful King of the demons and a father. Without mercy for the enemies, but such a great daddy for his forever baby-girl Hope and a great role-model for Paxton. I enjoyed the moments when Zane and Paxton are facing each other, really loved them I don't know if this is the end of my journey with the Dark Protectors, I'd love more books in the series, but I'm also happy and fullfilled this way at the moment.

I loved so much Both Feet in the Grave from the very beginning. Love at first read and lot of good vibes and feelings.

Cat and Bones Night Huntress series always will be a must-read if you love Paranormal Romance and most of all vampires, you can’t say you love this genre if you didn’t read them.

Jeaniene Frost took a risk rewriting the series through Bones’ POV, but she did it so good that I can’t thank her enough.

Reading the previous book was like seeing things in a mirror and I liked that, this one is very different, it fills several holes in their story, it shows you parts that were missing, years of Bones’ strugglings because Cat left him. And I really hope in the future there will be more of that, because I always thought I could have loved reading something more sometimes, I needed more.

I was also happy and moved to find a little more time with Randy in the book, it was brief, but I loved him so much and it feels like a cameo.

Actually every character in the series is special, In the best way or in the worst, it isn’t all about Cat and Bones.

One name? Justine for sure, she won the nomination as worst mother ever, she’s hateful, but we need her like that.

I really enjoyed reading Bones’ POV, it shows how deep is his love for Cat, sometimes he just know everything about her reactions to protect everyone she loves, her team, but it’s also fun when she acts like a loose cannon, because she loves hard too, and he can only do damage control.

Do you need another hint, a little push from me about why you need to read Both Feet In the Grave? Mmm… Let me think… Chapter 32? Rings a bell? Just saying…

Cute this second book In the Company of Vampires series by Michele Hauf, although I must say I didn't literally go crazy with it.

Maybe because there aren't big news in this world with paranormal creatures: vampires, witches, fairy anything but nice and humans, among which there is Kaz the protagonist who is a vampire hunter, he belongs to an Order dedicated to protecting humans.

Zoe is a witch, with the best intentions of this world, cute, an sweet, a real "natural" sexy enchantress, and without any spells, Kaz is irresistibly attracted by this woman. It is not just physical attraction between the two of them but perhaps the fact of not having to hide his dark side pushing Kaz to Zoe, who can understand the reality to which he belongs, since she also lives her life knowing about paranormal creatures.

I liked both of them, but for me wasn't a love "at first read", I began to appreciate them in the long run. Perhaps it contributed to make me less excited about reading the book that I already understood from the beginning what's going on from the start of their story. Then I missed a bit of pathos in following the events of their adventure.

Carino questo secondo libro della serie In the Company of Vampires di Michele Hauf, anche se devo dire non mi ha fatto letteralmente impazzire.

Sarà che non ci sono grosse novità in questa sua realtà paranormal: vampiri, streghe, fairy tutt'altro che carini e gentili e umani, tra i quali c'è Kaz il protagonista che è un cacciatore di vampiri, appartenente a un Ordine che si dedica a proteggere gli umani.

Zoe è invece una strega, con le migliori intenzioni di questo mondo, carina, gentile, sezy, una vera ammaliatrice "naturale", e senza che lei debba fare nessun incantesimo, Kaz è attratto irresistibilmente da questa donna. Non è solo attrazione fisica tra i due, ma forse il fatto di non dover nascondere il suo lato oscuro spinge Kaz verso Zoe, che può riuscire a comprendere la realtà di cui fa parte, visto che anche lei vive la sua vita tra creature paranormali.

Mi sono piaciuti entrambi, ma non è scoccato nei loro confronti un amore a prima vista, diciamo che ho cominciato ad apprezzarli alla lunga. Ha, forse, contribuito, a rendermi meno entusiasta nella lettura del libro il fatto che già avevo capito dall'inizio dove si sarebbe andati a parare con la loro storia. Quindi mi è mancata un po' di pathos nel seguire gli eventi della loro avventura.

I was a bit disappointed by this book.

I liked the setting and the care with which the author has created her vampires world and the laws governing their society, really intricate and important for all the Bloodmasters of Erebus.

Ares is no doubt fascinating as a character, but the way Trinity manages to do everything according to her plans with him was a bit disturbing for me. She comes as a slave and immediately became the favorite, and manages to affect Ares.

This is why I didn't feel all this whole great sympathy for her, even if she voluntarily offered to help Ares out of trouble, beccasse of her..

Perhaps giving too much space to explanations on laws to which they are subjected the Bloodmaster broke the rhythm of the book for me, making me less excited in going forward with the story.

Sono rimasta un po' delusa da questo libro.

Mi è piaciuta molto l'ambientazione e la cura con la quale l'autrice ha creato i suoi vampiri e la leggi che regolano la loro società, veramente intricate e importanti per tutti i Bloodmaster di Erebus.

Ares è senza dubbio affascinante come personaggio, ma il modo in cui Trinity riesce a fare tutto secondo i suoi piani con lui è un po' disturbante per me. Arriva come schiava e diventa subito la favorita, e riesce a influenzare Ares.

Motivo per il quale non ho provato tutta questa gran simpatia per lei,anche se poi volontariamente si offre per aiutare Ares a uscire da guai in cui in primo luogo lo ha messo lei.

Forse il dare troppo spazio alle spiegazioni sulle leggi a cui sono sottoposti i Bloodmaster ha spezzato un po' il ritmo del libro, rendendomi meno entusiasta nell'andare avanti con la storia.

Very cute retelling of the Christmas story for excellence by Charles Dickens.

The protagonist of the short novel by Cynthia Eden is a vampire, Ben, who without realizing  is close to a hit the point that threatens to turn him into one of the creatures that he has always hated.

The Christmas holiday season have become for him one of the most troubled moments, when he lost the woman he loved during this time of year in the past.

But he is not aware of many things that pertained to Simone, and during this night he discovers the truth about her and he can decide to change things and choose who he wants to become.

Being a short story the author could not enrich it with more details  about the story on Simon and Ben, but nonetheless it is a very cute and enjoyable tale with a very Christmas climate

Rivisitazione molto carina del racconto di Natale per eccellenza di Charles Dickens.

Il protagonista della novella breve di Cynthia Eden è un vampiro, Ben, che senza rendersene conto è vicino a un punto di non ritorno che rischia di trasformarlo in una delle creature che ha sempre odiato.

Le festività natalizie sono diventate per lui uno dei momenti più tormentati, da quando ha perso la donna che amava proprio durante questo periodo dell'anno nel passato.

Ma Ben non è a conoscenza di molte cose che riguardavano Simone, e durante questa notte scoprirà la verità e potrà decidere di cambiare le cose e scegliere chi diventare.

Essendo una storia breve l'autrice non ha potuto arricchire con più particolari la storia su Simone e Ben, ma comunque è un racconto molto carino e piacevole con un clima molto natalizio

Lara Adrian will never stop to amaze me with her Midnight Breed.

Crave the Night is the 12th book in this series and it is one of the most beautiful written by this author. Looking back to the first boocantone reader can see a profound change in the stories of Ms. Adrian, they began a more choral works, thanks to the different characters,  but always maintaining the focus of the story on the two main protagonists to whom is dedicated the book; I guess one of the major talents of this writer is the ability to tell her stories in a simple way, letting the plot develops in a way so smooth that the pages fly off one after the other. Then how to remain immune to the charms of her Breeds?

Nathan, the protagonist of this book along with Jordana, is irresistible. It was by the time of Tegan, I didn't meet an equally fascinating character. Dark and absolutely dominant, he has been conditioned since his early childhood to avoid any kind of emotions, so he could be  war machine, the perfect killer, cold and calculating.

Ms Adrian has not softened or blunted these characteristics. In fact, this vampire apparently so emotionless, is like  a volcano remained quiet and inactive for many years, then suddenly ready to explode and trample all over.

An impulsive act of Jordana, a simple Kiss, creates a crack in the wall that Nathan has built and that take him far away from the other, but slowly, despite himself, the young woman was able to push Nathan, in losing his self-control so renowned.

At first, the character of Jordana can mislead, she may seem like a littleinsecure, a weak girl who lives in her own world protected by a crystal ball, but in reality she proves to be quite different. She is at a crossroads: to be the perfect girl, never above the lines, which take decisions which all expect and want from her, or follow her instincts, which drives her to make a leap into the void, not knowing if there will be someone ready to pick her up.

I really liked the contrast between Jordana and Nathan, but mostly I adored their direct way in the deal. Well, actually, the term directed to Nathan is a bit of a euphemism, he is  more a caterpillar... Jordana for him and her emotions are an open book, he is able to "read" through her and doesn't allow her to hide. Luckily he does not fall into the vicious circle of "I am not worthy of you", which sometimes I can't stand in some male characters in books. Yes, he thinks that, but as he says himself, he believed not to be worthy of Jordana, but he's pretty selfish to go on his way, to attempt to conquer her. And for this reason the pedestal on which I put for years Tegan has faltered and little ...

Another strong point of Crave the Night is the eroticism and sensuality that unleashes Nathan, or rather the skill of the writer to create intense and incandescent scenes as well, without ever being vulgar, and I've experienced a mystical moment reading the description of Nathan ... practically I dislocated my jaw, because of my mouth was  so left open. How do you say? So much stuff? Never too much though ...

Closing Nathan a moment in my own cabinet, otherwise the neurons don't vive me peace, I must also say that I found the story of Jordana and the plot of the book interesting and could lead to new innovations in the future.

Already in the book of Mira and Kellan there had been a real chaos in the Breed and of humans' lifes and in the new stories the Breeds discover real surprises and new enemies.

I'm curious to see what future will bring with this author and, above all, who are the protagonists of the next book, I did not find major clues, I have an idea, but that is because there are really many players still to be explored among the sons of the original nucleus of the Breeds

A Vampire's Promise by Carla Susan Smith

Rowan Harper è solo una semplice commessa di una libreria dalla risposta sempre pronta, con una vita sentimentale disastrosa, quando una sera si reca al Rosie's Bar. Molti dei drammi Presenti nella sua vita li prende in prestito dalle avventure della sua migliore amica. Ma quando incontra Gabriel - alto e bello come una star del cinema - tutto cambia. Non importa se ha rifiutato il drink che le ha offerto o che porti con sé segreti che Rowan non vuole affrontare. Accende in lei una passione che non avrebbe mai sospettato di poter provare e mostra di subire il fascino di Rowan in un modo che lei non sa spiegarsi.

Lui non ha famiglia, nessun lavoro o conto in banca; sa dove vive lei e qual è il suo fiore preferito. Un aura di mistero lo avvolge, e anche se Rowan desidererebbe conoscere i fatti, al tempo stesso teme che le risposte possano distruggere la sua felicità. Gabriel può condurla in un mondo favoloso di nuove sensazioni. Ma solo se Rowan crederà abbastanza in lui da seguirlo.

Questo libro mi è piaciuto così tanto da farmi andare un po' contro la mia avversione per i finali con cliff hanger da paura.

Lo ammetto, sarò patetica ma una delle cose che di solito preferisco sono i lieto fine e quindi "cozzo" un po' con il finale lasciato in sospeso.

In questo caso faccio la dovuta eccezione perché la storia mi è piaciuta, non tanto per la sua originalità, questo no, per chi legge parecchi paranormal romance alcune cose si erano già capite prima della rivelazione finale. Mi è piaciuto per il modo nel quale è stato scritto e per i suoi personaggi Rowan, Gabriel e l'alone di mistero che circonda la loro storia.

Rowan è una giovane donna con un certo spirito, dalla risposta abbastanza pronta e decisa nelle sue scelte, fino a quando non incontra Gabriel che col suo fascino la mette decisamente in difficoltà e piano piano la conquista. Nei confronti di quest'uomo che la corteggia e tratta in modo molto speciale, Rowan prova delle sensazioni particolari, oltre di  un'attrazione fisica immediata che la manda letteralmente in fiamme. Ha l'impressione di vivere dei deja vu come se lo avesse già incontrato in passato, come se lo conoscesse, ma non riesce ad andare più a fondo di queste sue percezioni.

Gabriel rappresenta tutto quello che si può desiderare in un uomo, bellissimo, sexy, protettivo e anche terribilmente romantico. Dice sempre la cosa giusta al momento e nel modo giusto, tratta Rowan come se fosse la cosa più importante per lui al mondo e pian piano vince la sua diffidenza e la conquista.

Però nasconde anche un mare di segreti, Rowan ne è consapevole, ma ha paura di affrontarli e purtroppo prima o poi i nodi vengono al pettine e come sempre accade nel peggiore dei modi.

Ho trovato in quest'autrice una grande capacità di coinvolgermi e catturare completamente la mia attenzione mentre leggevo il libro.

Veramente ben scritto sia nella sua parte romance vera e propria che nelle scene di sesso tra i due protagonisti che sono esplicite e incandescenti, ma mai volgari.

Ben delineati anche i personaggi secondari che hanno la loro importanza nella storia, come la simpaticissima amica di Rowan, Laycee e le persone legate a Gabriel, anche loro misteriose, con fanno percepire una certa aura di pericolo, ma Particolari nei loro atteggiamenti verso Rowan così come lo è Gabriel.

Ora non mi resta che leggere il seguito del libro, A Vampire's Soul, perché questa Santa donna che è l'autrice Carla Susan Smith, per fortuna nel giro di un mese ha già pubblicato il secondo libro, un sollievo.

Dimenticavo di far presente che questa autrice è un'emergente e devo dire che questo suo primo libro è molto promettente.

I loved this book so much that I went  a bit against my distaste for the finals with cliff hanger so big.

I admit, I'm pathetic but one of the things that I usually prefer are the happy ending and then I have a little with ma issues with the ones left pending.

In this case I made an exception because I liked a lot the story, not so much for its originality, I can't say this, for those who read several paranormal romance some things were already understood before the final revelation. I liked the way in which it was written, and for its characters Gabriel and Rowan and the aura of mystery surrounding their story.

Rowan is a young woman with a certain spirifanone speaks her mind and she's determined in her choices, until she meets Gabriel and his charme and good looking puts her definitely in trouble and slowly ne wins her. Against this man who woos her and acts in a very special way, Rowan feels special sensations, over an immediate physical attraction that sends her literally on fire. The impression of living  deja vu as if they had already met in the past, as if she knew him, but she fails to go deeper than her perceptions.

Gabriel is everything you could want in a man, beautiful, sexy, protective and so terribly romantic. He always says the right thing at the right time and in the right way, as Rowan is the most important thing in the world for him and gradually wins her distrust.

Though also he has a lot of secrets, Rowan is aware of that, but she's afraid to confront them and unfortunately, sooner or later, the nodes are in the comb and as always happens in the worst ways.

I found this author has a great  ability to get me involved and she was be able to fully capture my attention while I was reading the book.

Really well written in its real part romance and in  the sex scenes between the two characters, that are explicit and hot, but never vulgar.

The well-defined minor characters have their importance in plot, as the lovely friend of Rowan, Laycee and the people linked to Gabriel,  very mysterious people, with a certain aura of danger, very particular their attitudes toward Rowan, but so is Gabriel.

Now I just have to read the book, A Vampire's Soul, because this saint woman which is the author Carla Susan Smith, thankfully within a month has already published her second book, a relief.

I forgot to point out that this author is an emerging one and I must say that this book is very promising.

Undying Destiny by Jessica Lee

Questo primo libro della serie The Enclave, ha molti punti in comune con le più conosciute serie Midnight Breeds di Lara Adrian o la Black Dagger Brotherhood di J.R. Ward.

Ambientata ai giorni nostri, ci ritroviamo di fronte a un gruppo di guerrieri vampiri, The Enclave, con un suo leader Kenric, che combattono per le strade contro degli altri vampiri che uccidono esseri umani innocenti, all'oscuro dell'esistenza di queste creature.

Ci sono tante similitudini, ma anche alcune differenze rispetto alle serie che ho citato in precedenza, per esempio Kenric era in precedenza un essere umano, ed è stato  trasformato contro il sui volere in un vampiro.

Amo questo genere di letture, e se sono ben scritti, non mi importa che possano richiamare altre storie, dopotutto non è detto che tutti abbiano letto Ward e Adrian, ma devo dire che in questo caso, queste ultime le considero a un livello superiore rispetto a questo libro.

Kenric St. James è alla ricerca della sua vendetta personale. Oltre trecento anni fa, una vampira antica lo trasformò contro il suo volere e uccise la donna che amava. Kenric ha impiegato più di un secolo nel creare la Enclave, un gruppo di vampiri guerrieri che hanno giurato di difendere l'umanità contro la sua creatrice e i suoi schiavi. Ma quando finalmente Kenric incontra una donna che riaccende in lui la passione e il desiderio di averla con sé, il vampiro sa che in questo modo darebbe alla sua nemica un nuovo obiettivo attraverso il quale colpirlo.

Emily Ross desidera solo un nuovo inizio per la sua vita. È una sopravvissuta, che è appena riuscita a dare un taglio a un rapporto nel quale subiva abusi dal suo compagno, e ha bisogno di trascorrere del tempo da sola, per imparare a conoscere se stessa e riuscire a salvare la casa alla quale si sente molto legata. L'ultima cosa della quale ha bisogno è un uomo dominante, abituato a prendere tutte le decisioni da solo.

L'incontro con Kenric potrebbe quasi riuscire a farle cambiare idea. Ma è l'uomo sbagliato per lei, sotto tutti i punti di vista possibili. Ma prima di pensare a come evitare di spezzarle il cuore, Kenric deve  affrontare un'orda di vampiri malefici, che hanno l'obiettivo di ucciderla.

Quello che non mi ha molto convinto nel racconto è stato proprio Kenric e il suo gruppo di guerrieri. Lui mi è sembrato privo di carisma, nonostante debba essere un personaggio dominante. Con Emily, poi, mi è sembrato ben poco alpha, ma più uno zerbino. Anche nel momento in cui scopre che lei aveva pensato di tradire il segreto dell'Enclave, le perdona tutto subito. Fosse stato gestito meglio questo punto nella trama, si poteva creare un po' di  pathos. I suoi guerrieri hanno avuto una presenza troppo marginale, secondo me, gli si poteva dare un po' più di spazio, ma probabilmente l'autrice vorrà sviluppare le loro storie nei prossimi libri; in realtà  non sono un vero gruppo, ma un insieme di singoli combattenti.

Emily non mi ha particolarmente colpito, sia in modo positivo che negativo.

Marguerite, la cattiva di turno, creatrice di Kenric è veramente un personaggio perfido e disturbante, vedremo in futuro cosa ci riserverà.

Sono curiosa di vedere come progredirà questa serie, perchè in passato mi è successo di non rimanere soddisfatta dal libro iniziale, per poi ricredermi.

This first book in The Enclave series, has many points in common with the most popular series  Midnight Breeds by Lara Adrian  or the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward.

Set in the present day, we read about a group of vampire warriors, The Enclave, with its leader Kenric; they fight in the streets against the other vampires who kill innocent humans, unaware of the existence of these creatures.

There are many similarities, but also some differences from the series I mentioned earlier, for example Kenric was formerly a human, and he was turned against his will into a vampire.

I love this kind of reads, and if they are well written, I don't mind that they can invoke other stories, after all, not everyone has read Ms Ward and Ms Adrian, but I must say that in this case, I consider BDB and Midnight Breeds a higher level than this book.

Kenric St. James is out for revenge. Over 300 years ago, an ancient female vampire turned him against his will and killed the woman he loved. He’s spent more than a century building an Enclave of warrior vampires who have sworn to defend humanity against his evil sire and her minions. But when Kenric finds a woman he finally burns to claim as his own again, Kenric knows loving her means giving his sire another target.

Emily Ross just wanted a fresh start. She’s a survivor, coming off the tail end of an abusive relationship, and craves time alone to learn who she is and to save the home that holds her heart. The last thing she needed was a controlling, alpha male calling all the shots.

Meeting Kenric might just have changed her mind, though. He is wrong for her in all the right ways. But in order to keep her heart from breaking, he first has to keep the hoards of evil vamps from stealing her very breath.

Kenric and his group of warriors didn't impress me very much, in this story. He seems to lack of charisma, though he should be a dominant character. With Emily, then, he seemed not so alpha, but more a doormat. Even when he discovers that she had thought of betraying the secret of the Enclave, he forgives all soon. If it had been better managed this  point in the plot, we could find a little bit of pathos. His warriors had a marginal presence too, in my opinion, I'd rather like to know more about them, but probably the author will develop their stories in the next books; actually it's not a real group, but a collection of individual warriors.

 I was not particularly impressed by Emilt, both with positive and negative.

Marguerite, the evil vampire, creator of Kenric is truly a treacherous and disturbing character, we'll see what will bring in the future.

I'm curious to see how it will progress this series, because in the past I didn't like several initial books of some series at first, then I changed my mind..

Libro che mi ha un po' deluso, viste le premesse della sinossi e il paragone con autrici quali J.R. Ward, Nalini Singh e Lara Adrian. Non ci siamo proprio, il livello è decisamente inferiore rispetto a queste autrici, secondo me.

Benvenuti in questa realtà affascinante nella quale i vampiri si nascondono tra gli umani. Questa razza antica di centinaia di anni ha le proprie regole, un suo codice di condotta e i suoi taboo. Solo l'FBI è a conoscenza dell'esistenza dei vampiri, e anche se l'Agenzia è disposta a mantenere il segreto, complotta per poter mettere la razza umana in una posizione di dominio.

Trasformare mortali in vampiri è proibito.

Ma ci sono creature che si rifiutano di giocare secondo le regole.

Sin da quando è stato trasformato in un vampiro, l'agente speciale dell'FBI Ty Duncan ha un unico obiettivo: portare alla giustizia i vampiri ribelli. Dopo essere entrato a far parte dall'agenzia Belladonna, un'agenzia fantasma che ha il compito di tenere sotto controllo i vampiri, Ty deve reclutare Ana Martin, una donna dal passato travagliato, ex membro di una gang, e una delle poche mortali che si può infiltrare in posti dove nemmeno la razza di Ty o la legge possono accedere. Sin dal loro primo incontro Ty deve resistere all'intenso desiderio che prova per lei.

Quando Ty afferma di avere informazioni sulla sorella scomparsa di Ana, la donna non ha altra scelta che fidarsi dell'affascinante sconosciuto, che risveglia in lei desideri nascosti. Ma mentre Ana e Ty scoprono i piaceri e la passione che possono dare l'uno all'altra, un nemico cospira per eliminarli entrambi.

Ana potrà aiutare Ty a ritrovare la sua umanità grazie ad un amore che forse potrà guarire entrambi, oppure la loro passione li condurrà verso un vicolo cieco, al quale sarà impossibile sfuggire?

Le potenzialità c'erano per scrivere una bella storia, ma tale sono rimaste.

Ty è un personaggio un po' troppo travagliato, con degli alti e bassi nei suoi comportamenti un po' da montagne russe; odia se stesso, quello che è diventato e non riesce a controllare i suoi impulsi, perdendo troppo facilmente il controllo più di una volta, soprattutto a causa di Ana.

Lei ha un passato turbolento alle spalle, vittima di violenze, cerca rifugio in una gang, ma ne diventa succube di una gang, fino a quando decide di scappare, ma finisce in galera. Vuole ricostruirsi una vita, ma non ne ha la possibilità reale fino a quando l'Agenzia Belladonna le dà un'occasione, anche per rimettere a posto il rapporto con la persona più importante della sua vita, la sorella.

Carina l'idea di rievocare l'immagine della nota serie televisiva Charlie's Angels, che viene brevemente citata nel libro.

Per il resto gran scene di sesso, narrazione un po' lenta, che mi ha un po' annoiata e zero humour.

Ty non mi è piaciuto molto, non so se si è capito, in compenso sono rimasta colpita dal cattivo della situazione Miguel e dal protettore fantasma di Ana.

Non ho ben capito invece da dove nascesse tutto il rancore e l'odio di Gloria prova verso la sorella Ana.

Questo è il primo libro della serie Belladonna, anche se non so se il seguito riguarderà le altre donne reclutate dall'agenzia, gli altri "angeli".

I'm a little  bit disappointed from this book, given the premise of synopsis and the comparison with authors such as J.R. Ward, Nalini Singh and Lara Adrian. We are so far from them, the level is much lower than these authors, in my opinion.

Welcome to a mesmerizing world where vampires hide among humans. This centuries-old species has its own rules, code of conduct, and taboos. Only the FBI knows that vampires exist—and although the Bureau agrees to keep their secret, it also plots to give humans the upper hand.

Turning mortals into vampires is forbidden.

But there are creatures who refuse to play by the rules.

Ever since he was turned, FBI special agent Ty Duncan has had one mission: bring rogue vampires to justice. As a recruiter for Belladonna, a shadow agency formed to keep vampires in check, Ty must tap Ana Martin, a troubled ex–gang member and one of the few mortals who can infiltrate places that his kind and the law cannot. From their first encounter, Ty fights a hunger to make Ana his own.

There were potential to write a good story, but this remained.

Ty is a character a little too troubled, with highs and lows in his behaviour a bit as roller coaster; He hates himself, what he has become and is unable to control his impulses, losing too easily control more than once, especially due to Ana.

She has a turbulent past behind, a victim of violence, she seeks refuge in a gang, but it becomes dominated by a gang, until she decides to escape, but ends up in jail. She wants to rebuild a life, but she hasn't the real possibility until the Agency Belladonna gives her an opportunity to replace the relationship with the most important person in her life, her sister.

Nice idea to evoke the image of the television series Charlie's Angels, which is briefly mentioned in the book.

Otherwise great sex scenes, narration a bit slow, I was a bit bored, and zero humor.

I really didn't like Ty, I don't know if you figured it out, I was impressed, instead, by the bad guy of the situation Miguel and from Ana's ghost protector.

I don't understand from why Gloria felt all the rancor and hatred for her sister Ana.

This is the first book in Belladonna, though I don't know if the netx books are about the other women recruited by the Agency, the other "angels".

Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews

Premetto che ho ricevuto una copia eARC di Clean Sweep dagli autori del libro Gordon e Ilona Andrews in cambio di una recensione onesta del loro libro.

Vista dall'esterno Dina Demille è l'epitome della normalità. Gestisce un antiquato Bed & Breakfast vittoriano in una piccola cittadina del Texas, possiede uno shitzu di nome Beast, è la perfetta vicina di casa, il cui problema più grosso dovrebbe essere cosa servire per colazione ai suoi ospiti. Ma Dina è... differente. La sua scopa è un'arma letale, il suo albergo è magico e pensa da solo. Creato per dare alloggio a visitatori di altri mondi, l'unico ospite fisso è un'aristocratica galattica che si è ritirata e non può abbandonare il terreno del Bed & Breakfast, dato che è la responsabile della morte di milioni di persone e qualcuno potrebbe decidere di spararle a vista. Date queste circostanze, la parola "normale" va un po' stretta a Dina.

E adesso qualcosa che possiede malefici artigli e denti affilati ha cominciato a mietere vittime durante la notte... Sentendosi responsabile nei confronti dei propri vicini, Dina decide di lasciarsi coinvolgere. Ma prima di tutto deve avere a che fare con l'attraente, in modo irritante, nuovo vicino Sean Evans, ex militare - licantropo alpha dominante - e con l'ugualmente affascinante vampiro soldato cosmico, Arland, cercando contemporaneamente di tenere al sicuro i suoi ospiti e l'albergo. Ma il nemico che si ritrova ad affrontare è diverso da qualsiasi cosa abbia mai affrontato in precedenza. È furbo, malefico e letale e mettendo se stessa tra questa creatura e i suoi vicini potrebbe costarle tutto.

Dovete credermi, non sto esagerando, è il libro più bello, divertente e originale che abbia letto nel 2013, a mio parere.

 Clean Sweep è un inizio decisamente brillante per la serie Innkeeper Chronicles e oserei dire che sembra non avere non ha nulla da invidiare alla famosa serie Kate Daniels, degli stessi autori.

La chimica che si sprigiona quando scrivono insieme Gordon e Ilona è speciale, non ho idea di come avvenga il loro processo creativo, ma funziona alla grande.

Questo libro è un mix tra urban fantasy e sci-fi, ma unico è il loro modo di scrivere e le interazioni che riescono a creare con i loro personaggi.

Sono presenti  magia, vampiri, licantropi e alieni, ma i particolari che sono nati dalla loro mente, per queste specie di creature sono unici, tali da non dover ricorrere ai soliti stereotipi presenti negli altri libri paranormal.

 Così  come unica  è la protagonista femminile.

Dina è un personaggio così divertente da leggere per il suo modo di comportarsi e reagire, con la battuta sempre pronta,  in grado di tenere testa, senza sforzo, ai maschi alpha presenti nel libro, domandoli, nel vero senso della parol e la sua magia e il suo ruolo sono determinanti nel racconto.

Arland, il vampiro, mi ha ricordato a tratti un cavaliere medievale per il suo modo di esprimersi e comportarsi, anche se ogni tanto appaiono degli sprazzi del suo essere predatore.

Sean, il licantropo, è un guardiano un po' particolare, una vera testa calda, sfrontato e sarcastico, sempre pronto a punzecchiare Arland.

Una delle cose che mi è piaciuta di più in questa storia è stata che sono riuscita a immergermi così tanto nella loro realtà, che mi sembrava di essere lì presente, ad assistere ai vari episodi accaduti tra Dina, Sean e Arland e in alcuni casi faticavo a trattenermi dal ridere immaginandomi le scene. E Beast il piccolo shitzu di Dina, non potete immaginare cosa può fare Beast!

Non voglio fare spoiler e rovinare le sorprese che può riservare  questo racconto, e sinceramente non riesco a trovargli un difetto. È originale, i personaggi sono ben caratterizzati, la trama è ottima, il libro ben scritto, ha ritmo, è pieno d'azione e la storia cattura da subito l'interesse di chi legge.

Fantastico, e mi sono divertita così tanto nel leggerlo che non posso fare a meno di consigliarlo a tutti, e pensare a questo libro come a un bel regalo per chi ama questo genere.

Questa storia, in realtà, era stata pubblicata come serial, gratuitamente,sul sito degli Ilona Andrews con una frequenza settimanale, così come per la serie Kate Daniels, in passato, gli Ilona Andrews avevano messo a disposizione dei loro fan degli special, con download sempre gratuito, con i POV di Curran, imperdibili.

Mi piace questa coppia, perchè scrive delle belle storie, ma soprattutto ama scriverle e coccolare noi lettori.

 I received an eARC copy of  Clean Sweep by the authors Gordon and Ilona Andrews in exchange for an honest review of their book.

On the outside, Dina Demille is the epitome of normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, whose biggest problem should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. But Dina is...different: Her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn is magic and thinks for itself. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who can’t leave the grounds because she’s responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight. Under the circumstances, "normal" is a bit of a stretch for Dina.

And now, something with wicked claws and deepwater teeth has begun to hunt at night....Feeling responsible for her neighbors, Dina decides to get involved. Before long, she has to juggle dealing with the annoyingly attractive, ex-military, new neighbor, Sean Evans—an alpha-strain werewolf—and the equally arresting cosmic vampire soldier, Arland, while trying to keep her inn and its guests safe. But the enemy she’s facing is unlike anything she’s ever encountered before. It’s smart, vicious, and lethal, and putting herself between this creature and her neighbors might just cost her everything.

You must believe me, I'm not exaggerating, it's the most beautiful book, funny and original I read in 2013, in my opinion.

 Clean Sweep is a very bright start for the Innkeeper Chronicles and I daresay that seems to have nothing to envy to the Kate Daniels series, of the same authors.

The chemistry that Gordon and Ilona can do with their writing is special, I have no idea how is their creative process, but it works great.

This book is a mix between urban fantasy and sci-fi, and unique is the way they write and interactions they realize with their characters.

There are magic, vampires, werewolves and aliens, but the details that are born from their minds, for these species of creatures are so new, they don't use the usual stereotypes present in other paranormal books.

 Just as unique is the female protagonist.

Dina is so fun to read for her way of acting and reacting, her jokes always ready, she's able to hold her own, effortlessly, with the alpha males present in the book, taming them, in the true sense of the word and her magic and her role is crucial in the story.

Arland, the Vampire, reminded me a medieval knight for his way of speaking and acting, though sometimes glimpses of his being predator appear as well.

Sean, the werewolf, is a guardian a bit particular, a real hot head, bold and sarcastic, always ready to poke Arland.

One of the things I liked most in this story was that I was able to immerse myself so much in the reading, that I seemed to be there, to attend various episodes occurred between Dina, Sean and Arland and in some cases it was difficult to restrain myself from laughing imagining the scenes. And Beast the little Dina's shitzu, you can't imagine what Beast can do!

I don't want to make spoilers and ruin the surprises that can reserve this tale, and honesty I l can't find a flaw. It's original, the protagonists are well characterized, the plot is excellent, well-written, the book has rhythm, is full of action and the story captures the interest of the reader.

Awesome, and I enjoyed so much it that I can't help but recommend it to everyone, and think of this book as a gift for anyone who loves this genre.

This story, in fact, was published as a serial, for free, on the site of Ilona Andrews with a weekly frequency, as well as for the Kate Daniels series, in the past, Ilona Andrews had made available for their  fans several specials, with always free downloads, with the POV of Curran, unmissable.

I love this couple, because they write some good stories, but especially they do love writing and cherish us readers.

Beauty's Beasts by Tracy Cooper-Posey

Dubbio "amletico" dopo la lettura di questo libro: che voto dare?
Beauty's Beasts è un libro paranormal con una grossa componente erotica, basti vedere l'elenco di raccomandazioni al suo inizio, ci manca sono un: nuoce gravemente alla salute,  per il resto c'è tutto, ma in America così è, il lettore viene avvisato prima, sui contenuti che potrebbero essere ritenuti offensivi al comune senso del pudore.
Dove nasce il mio dubbio? Mi sono piaciuti i due vampirozzi alpha Damian e Nick e anche la protagonista Riley; la trama poteva essere interessante, ma è proprio la parte romance/ erotica tra Nick, Damian e Riley che mi ha lasciato un po' perplessa. Forse è dovuto al breve lasso di tempo nel quale si svolge il racconto, ma dubito sia questo; ho trovato la storia tra di loro scritta in modo un po' superficiale e poco coinvolgente e a tratti un po' confusa. Invece avrebbe dovuto essere il pezzo forte del libro.
È il secondo libro nella serie, il primo nonostante la presenza di Damian e Nick, riguarda più l'incontro e la storia d'amore tra i genitori di Riley.
Avrei preferito scoprire qualcosa di più sul legame tra Damian e Nick che in precedenza erano stati una coppia, approfondire la loro conoscenza, proverò a leggere la storia raccontata nel primo libro, per vedere se recupero qualche tassello.
Quindi giudizio in sospeso tra le 2/3 stelle.

Riley Carson Connors viene trascinata via da Pittsburgh e convinta ad andare a New York da due sconosciuti molto alti e sexy. Nicholas Sherwood e Damian sono le uniche persone al mondo che sappiano qualcosa dei suoi genitori e quello che sanno è terrificante. Riley deve affrontare un potente nemico che ha ucciso entrambi i suoi genitori, i quali erano i cacciatori di demoni migliori del loro periodo.
Nonostante la verità sulla reale storia della sua famiglia la attiri come una calamita, la ragazza trova Nicholas e Damian ancora più irresistibili. Nel passato sono stati amanti e adesso sono tornati insieme solo per tener fede alla promessa fatta alla madre di Riley, di proteggerla, ed entrambi i due potenti vampiri la provocano con giochi mentali erotici. I due tengono nascosto i motivi  che li spingono a coinvolgerla in questo gioco e Riley non riesce a comprendere i loro scopi, sa solo che rischia di perdere la testa a causa del piacere carnale che solo un vampiro con l'esperienza di centinaia di anni è in grado di farle provare.

After reading this book I found myself with a big dilemma: what kind of rating I must give?
Beauty's Beasts is a paranormal romance book with a strong erotic component, as someone can see by the list of recommendations at its inception, the only missing is: a seriously detrimental to health: for the rest there is everything, but it's the way in use in America, the reader is warned before, if content might be considered offensive to the common sense of decency.
Why my doubt? I liked the two alpha vampires Damian and Nick and even the protagonist Riley; the plot could be interesting, but it is precisely the romance/erotica between Nick, Damian and Riley that left me a little puzzled. Maybe it's due to the short time in which the story takes place, but I doubt this; I found the story between them in a little shallow and not so engaging and at times a bit confused. Instead it should have been the most important part of the book.
It's the second book in the series, despite the presence of Damian and Nick, the first is about the lovestory  between Riley's parents.
I would rather find out more about the bond between Damian and Nick, previously they had been lovers, I'd love to deepen their knowledge, I want to read the story told in the first book, to see if I'll change my mind about this one.
Then pending judgement is between the 2/3 stars.

How to Discipline Your Vampire by Mina Vaughn

Carinissimo, divertente e originale, oltre a essere molto caliente nelle scene BDSM tra Cerise e William, in questo libro c'è anche amore e tenerezza. Molto più bello di quanto  mi aspettassi in realtà, dopo aver letto la sinossi.

Cerise Norrel, insegnante supplente durante il giorno, è pronta ad abbandonare il suo ruolo di Dominatrice nella vita privata. Nonostante le sue migliori intenzioni, nessuno dei suoi partner riesce a starle dietro nelle sue scene fetish e con l'attenzione per i dettagli, men che meno con la sua pretesa che ogni pomeriggio le venga preparata una messinscena con tanto di costumi, al suo ritorno dal lavoro.

Più di una dozzina di potenziali sub nel corso dell'ultimo anno l'hanno abbandonata, ma quando Cerise crede che sia tutto impossibile trovare ciò che cerca e di dover tornare ad avere relazioni sessuali convenzionali, incontra William, che desidera realizzare tutte le sue fantasie. Trasforma la casa di Cerise nell'appartamento da sogno di una geisha, in una sala da concerto con un enorme pianoforte (che suona dal vivo dedicandole una composizione originale, vestito con uno smoking) e affitta addirittura un loft abbandonato per inscenare l'apocalisse con relativa invasione di zombie, senza tralasciare rifornimenti di cibo in scatola.

Ma c'è qualcosa di strano riguardo a William. Beh un sacco di cose strane. Deve essere assurdamente ricco, visto che si può permettere di procurare tutti quei meravigliosi costumi e oggetti d'arredamento, tutti i giorni, senza dover mai uscire prima dal lavoro. Deve essere pazzo, visto che riesce a tener testa a tutte le esigenze di Cerise. E cosa molto importante, la sua pelle non si arrossa quando viene sculacciato, è fredda e morbida come la seta. Quando Cerise scopre di essere diventata la Dominatrice del famoso "Chilly Willy" - Willy il ghiacciolo - come lo hanno soprannominato nel giro del BDSM, si rende anche conto che c'è molto di più nel suo bellissimo sub, che una mente creativa e uno splendido corpo.

E quando, per ironia, è William a pressare Cerise per avere il legame che lei non è mai stata disposta a dare a nessuno, la donna ce la deve mettere tutta per affrontare le sue paure, il suo passato e imparare a essere vulnerabile.

Questo libro racchiude tante cose: un po' di paranormal, un po' di erotica BDSM, tanta ironia. Mi è piaciuto lo stile molto fresco con la quale viene raccontata la storia, i flashback sulla vita di William, grazie alla lettura del suo diario, le scene che i due si trovano a interpretare, vista la mania di Cerise per i suoi roleplay a sfondo erotico.

Lei è una persona eccentrica, particolare, maniacale per la sua fissazione per i dettagli e vuole mantenere i rapporti con ha certa distanza dal punto di vista affettivo.

William è molto dolce, tenero e alla ricerca di qualcuno che possa soddisfare il suo bisogno di sottomissione, senza umiliarlo a causa dei suoi cosiddetti "difetti".  Si innamora perdutamente di Cerise ed è disposto a fare di tutto per renderla felice, anche farle aprire gli occhi e affrontare il bagaglio che si porta dietro, il suo passato scomodo. Nonostante la sua natura di sottomesso, si ribella e reagisce perchè vuole di più dal rapporto con lei, più di quanto lei sia disposta a concedere.

Credo che questo possa essere il libro giusto per le persone che nutrono qualche curiosità sulla letteratura erotico BDSM, le scene sono molto reali, ma non eccessive, e molto divertenti grazie al roleplay che i due interpretano. Non ci sono momenti pesanti che magari potrebbero impressionare chi tenta di approcciare per la prima volta questo genere, anche se oramai è molto di moda.

So nice, funny and original, and why not, very hot in the BDSM scenes between William and Cerise, in this book there is also love and tenderness. Much nicer than I expected actually, after reading the synopsis.

Cerise Norrell, Type A substitute teacher by day, is ready to quit being a domme. Despite her best intentions, none of her partners can keep up with her scene fetish and attention to detail—let alone her demand that they have a costume and set waiting every afternoon by the time she’s home from school. 

Over a dozen potential subs have left her in the past year, but just when Cerise thinks it’s impossible—that she’ll have to go back to vanilla relationships, or be alone forever—she meets William, who wants to make all her fantasies come true. He turns her home into a geisha’s dream apartment, a concert hall with a grand piano (which he uses to play an original composition while wearing a tuxedo), and even rents an abandoned loft for a zombie apocalypse scene—complete with canned goods.

But there’s something strange about William. Well, a lot of strange things. He must be absurdly rich, since he can afford to provide extravagant costumes and props on a daily basis without having to leave work early. He must be insane, since he puts up with Cerise’s over-the-top demands. And most importantly, he doesn’t redden when he’s spanked, and his skin is as cool as satin sheets. When Cerise discovers she’s become dome to the infamous “Chilly Willy,” as he’s known throughout the BDSM urban lore, she begins to find out there’s a whole lot more to her handsome submissive than a creative mind and a hard body.

And when it’s William, ironically, who starts pressing Cerise to give him the kind of commitment she’s never given anyone, it’ll take everything she has to work through her issues, confront her past, and learn to be vulnerable.

This book is many things: a little paranormal, a bit of BDSM erotica and so much humour. I liked very much how is written this story, it's refreshing, the flashbacks about the life of William, thanks to reading his diary, the scenes between the two of them , thanks the obsession for Cerise to erotic roleplay.

She is an eccentric person, especially, for her manic obsession to detail and how she wants to maintain her relationships with some distance from the emotional point of view.

William is very sweet, tender and looking for someone who can satisfy his need for submission, without humiliate him because of his so-called "faults".  He falls madly in love with Cerise and he is willing to do anything to make her happy, but he wants to open her eyes so she can deal with her baggage, her uncomfortable past. Despite his submissive nature, he rebels and reacts because he wants more from his relationship with her, more than she is willing to concede.

I think this might be the right book for people who have some curiosity about erotic BDSM literature, the scenes are very real, but not excessive, and great fun thanks to roleplay that both interpret. There aren't heavy moments that perhaps might impress those who want to try and approach for the first time, although it is now very fashionable.
