Questa volta sono tornata a una mia antica passione un libro western romance, giusto per staccarmi un po' dal mondo paranormal che mi ha riassorbito in questi ultimi anni. E non mi sono affatto pentita di averlo fatto, Thunderstruck è veramente un bel libro da leggere, una stupenda storia d'amore che nasce tra due protagonisti con un vissuto molto diverso, spinti inizialmente l'uno verso l'altra da una intensa attrazione fisica, anche se Hawk, il nostro bellissimo allevatore di cavalli, terribilmente sexy, di origine Apache, da subito coglie i segni legati alle tradizioni della sua cultura, che gli mostrano che Jo avrà un ruolo importantissimo nella sua vita, se saprà giocarsi bene le sue carte.
Jo Montgomery decide di trasferirsi in un piccolo paese in un'area remota della Georgia, per porre una certa distanza dal suo passato e sfuggire alla potente influenza di cui gode l'ex marito; una decisone impetuosa, insolita per il suo modo di essere. Non tanto insolita per lei come invece può esserlo instaurare una relazione intima col proprio vicino. Hawk Stephens è un allevatore di cavalli e nel tempo è divenuto una celebrità locale, un dio del sesso in carne e ossa, da quello che dicono di lui in giro, ma quest'uomo da Jo vuole di più.
Il suo istinto dice a Silent Hawk che lei è "l'unica", e nonostante la manifesta incertezza della donna, il suo credo Apache gli infonde fiducia. I segni sono inequivocabili. Questa giovane donna insicura e recalcitrante ha bisogno di una mano forte, di pazienza e ... di lasciarsi finalmente travolgere da una passione che le faccia perdere il suo autocontrollo, e non le lasci dubbi sui sentimenti e le intenzioni di Hawk.
Ma appena la loro storia d'amore sembra avere inizio, un tragico evento e il ritorno dell'ex nella sua vita, obbligano Jo a prendere delle decisioni che distruggono tutte le certezze di Hawk, compromettendo forse in modo irreparabile la loro storia.
La trama forse non è delle più originali, ma il personaggio di Hawk ha un carisma unico, grazie alle sue origini Apache, alle sue tradizioni, per non parlare del suo fascino e della sua sensualità.
Jo è una donna che, dopo aver fatto le scelte che sono state sempre meglio per gli altri, decide di dare spazio finalmente a se stessa, ricominciando da zero sfidando le proprie incertezze e scoprendo così quanto in realtà sia forte la sua volontà, il suo orgoglio e cosa voglia dire essere finalmente liberi.
Oltre alla bellezza della storia d'amore tra Jo e Hawk, ho trovato stupendi i genitori di lui, Ray e Raven, una coppia che il destino ha diviso con le sue vicissitudini, ma non ha mai separato definitivamente. Un amore speciale.
Un bel libro, emozionante e una lettura sicuramente piacevole c'è romantica.

And I am not sorry about this choice, Thunderstruck is really a nice book to read, a wonderful story of love that comes between two characters with very different experiences, initially pushed toward each other by an intense physical attraction, although Hawk,the gorgeus and hot young man and a very good horse breeder, with his Apache heritage, immediately captures the signs related to the traditions of his culture that show that Jo will have an important role in his life if he will play his cards right.
Desperate to distance herself from her previous life, and her high-powered ex, Jo Montgomery moves to a tiny slice of Georgia, an impetuous decision if there ever was one. Though not nearly as impetuous as throwing herself into an intimate relationship with her new neighbor. Hawk Stephens, a horse breeder and local celebrity, is sex personified, a man built for dark deeds in dark places. But he wants far more from Jo.
Every instinct tells Silent Hawk that Jo is The One, and despite her obvious uncertainty, his Apache beliefs give him faith. The signs are unmistakable. His skittish little filly requires a strong hand, patience…and blazing, mind-bending sex that leaves no doubt to his feelings and intentions.
But before their love affair has barely begun, the reemergence of Jo’s ex, coupled with a potentially tragic event, forces Jo to make decisions that not only damage Hawk’s beliefs, but could also shatter their tender romance beyond repair.
The plot is perhaps not the most original, but the character of Hawk has a unique charisma, thanks to his origins Apache, his traditions, not to mention his charm and sensuality.
Jo is a woman who, after making the choices always better for others, decides to give space to herself afresh by challenging her own uncertainties and discovering what she is a woman finally with a very strong will, proud and free.
In addition to the beauty of the love story between Jo and Hawk, I loved Hawk's parents, Ray and Raven, a pair that fate has divided with its ups and downs, but has never really separated them. A special love.
A beautiful book, exciting and definitely a nice and romanic reading.
