Adoro Rebecca Zanetti e la sua serie Dark Protectors, scoperta, per puro caso, grazie alla recensione di un blog su FB, in cui si nominava Connlan Kayrs come uno dei vampiri alpha male più irresistibili ( veramente loro dicevano hot...) del mondo paranormal.Il nome dell'autrice può ingannare noi italiani, infatti Ms Zanetti è americana e come spesso accade i suoi libri da noi non sono ancora stati tradotti.Nella serie Dark Protectors sono presenti varie figure di immortali, vampiri buoni e cattivi, mutaforma, streghe, demoni, ecc... Il Reame ha un equilibrio molto instabile e le guerre fra i vari gruppi di immortali oramai sono un problema costante, anche se tutto viene tenuto nascosto agli occhi degli umani, o quasi.
Twisted all'interno di questa bellissima serie è la novella #5.5, sarebbe meglio aver letto i libri precedenti per gustarsi alcuni antefatti avvenuti tra Terrent e Maggie, o meglio scontri/incontri, che avevano fatto intuire che sotto sotto covava qualcosa tra i due, anche se non avrei mai pensato a tanto.
Maggie è un lupo mutaforma che in passato e stata catturata dai Kurjans che l'hanno sottoposta a degli esperimenti. Adesso che finalmente una cura è stata trovata per i mutaforma infettati con il virus creato dai Kurjans (cosa che invece non è ancora avvenuta per le compagne dei vampiri e per le streghe), si può concentrare nel creare una nuova vita per se stessa, accettando il fatto che forse non riuscirà più a recuperare la memoria del suo passato. A volte nel momento del risveglio dai suoi sogni le sembra di ricordare una voce profonda e cupa, con un forte accento scozzese, che somiglia terribilmente a quella di Terrent Vilks, un lupo mutaforma, che in passato Maggie ha reso furioso, dopo averlo sequestrato e rapito per quella che lei reputava una giusta causa.
Terrent Vilks è a conoscenza di molte cose del passato di Maggie, più di quanto sia stato disposto a rivelare nel corso degli anni. Dopo aver indagato a lungo riesce a scoprire il motivo per il quale i demoni vogliono eliminare Maggie. Terrent ricorda il suo passato con Maggie... molto bene. Finalmente è riuscito a portarla dove voleva. Adesso non gli rimane che scoprire cosa le hanno fatto i Kurjans, eliminare i demoni per fare in modo che la ragazza venga lasciata in pace e riuscire a farla innamorare di lui, nuovamente. Per sua fortuna è abituato a confrontarsi con vari tipi di mostro.
In questa serie ho sempre preferito i libri riguardo ai fratelli Kayrs, ho un debole per i vampiri, ma la novella che Ms Zanetti ha scritto su Terrent e Maggie è meravigliosa.Questi alpha male sono irresistibili, dominanti, ma in questo caso il comportamento di Terrent è sorprendente, una volta che viene rivelato il passato di Maggie. I personaggi sono ben descritti, la trama avvincente e il libro ben scritto, in modo molto scorrevole. Una volta iniziato ho letteralmente divorato la storia.
Bello, bello, bello. Non vedo l'ora di leggere il prossimo della serie.

I love Rebecca Zanetti and her Dark Protectors Series, I discovered it thanks to a blog review on FB, it spoke about Connlan Kayrs as one of the most irresistible alpha male vampires (the hottest vampire, were the real words...) of the paranormal world.The name of the author may deceive us Italians, indeed Ms Zanetti is American and as it often happens in our language this beautiful books are not translated, yet.In the Dark Protectors series are present various races of immortals, good and bad vampires, shapeshifters, witches, demons, etc. The Realm has a very unstable equilibrium and the wars between the various groups of Immortals by now are a constant problem, even if everything is kept hidden from human eyes, or nearly so.Twisted in this wonderful series is the novella #5.5, it should be better to have read the previous books to enjoy some episode occurred between Terrent and Maggie, sparkling of fire, I can guess there was something between them, although I never thought that far.
Maggie is a wolf shifter who was captured and experimented on by the Kurjans. Now that a cure has finally been found for shifters (although not for vampire mates or witches), she can concentrate on creating a new life for herself and finally accepting that her memories are gone forever. Most memories, that is. Sometimes in the hazy world between dreams and dawn, she hears a Scottish voice, dark and deep, that sounds suspiciously like wolf-shifter Terrent Vilks. A man she happened to anger by kidnapping a few years back. Hey, it was for a good cause.Terrent Vilks knows more than he’s let on for the past several years. After digging for answers, he knows exactly why the demons want Maggie dead. And he remembers his past with Maggie…very well. She is finally where he wants her. Now all he has to do is discover what exactly the Kurjans did to her, beat the demons into so much submission they leave her alone, and get her to fall in love with him. Again. Good thing he’s used to wrangling monsters.
In this series I have always preferred the books concerning the Kayrs brothers, I have a soft spot for vampires, but this novel written by Ms Zanetti about Terrent and Maggie is wonderful.Her alpha males are irresistible, cery dominant, but in this case the behavior of Terrent is amazing once Maggie's past is revealed.The characters are well described, the plot engaging and it is a very well-written book, so very smooth.
Once started I literally devoured the story.Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Can't wait to read the next one in the series.
