Buon inizio per la nuova serie di Larissa Ione, dedicata ai vampiri. Difficile creare qualcosa di veramente unico e originale nel mondo paranormal su questo argomento, come lo era stata invece per la Demonica Series, che ho adorato, forse un po' a causa del mio lavoro come infermiera...
In Bound in the Night i vampiri, per quanto siano creature immortali sono soggiogate al potere degli umani, che li catturano, li utilizzano come schiavi e cavie da esperimento. Un po' da brividi devo dire, anche se la storia della realtà "umana" ci ha dimostrato che la fiction è niente in confronto a quello che l'uomo può veramente fare.
Siamo di fronte quindi all'eterno scontro tra le due razze, con gli umani che non sono le solite vittime innocenti, oltre a questo poi ci ritroviamo anche di fronte a lotte di clan diversi di vampiri.
La storia mi è piaciuta molto e come al solito l'impronte della scrittura della Ione mi piace tantissimo, i suoi personaggi sono sempre descritti e rappresentati in modo accurato, con i loro conflitti interiori, scambi di battute ironici e vampiri molto molto hot.
Nicole Martin aveva solo otto anni durante l'insurrezione dei vampiri tenuti in schiavitù al servizio della sua famiglia, durante la quale quasi tutti i membri di quest'ultima vengono sterminati. Lo scopo della sua vita adesso è scoprire un vaccino contro il vampirismo, sperando di riuscire a cancellare i suoi ricordi e insieme a essi la presenza di ogni succhia sangue dal pianeta. C'è solo una cosa che non riesce a distruggere: la bruciante, innegabile attrazione che prova verso l'unico essere che dovrebbe odiare e temere di più...
Membro del clan dei vampiri ribelli MoonBound, Ryker è perseguitato dai suoi demoni interiori. Quando riconosce Nicole e vengono a galla le memorie di come la sua famiglia abbia reso schiava la sua amata, il suo cuore arde per la sete di vendetta. Ma quando rapisce Nicole e la tiene imprigionata nel suo rifugio nascosto, la sua nemica mortale si trasforma nella sua personale ossessione, la sua più grande tentazione e, forse la sua unica salvezza, trasformandosi in un'amante passionale che potrà guarirlo col suo tocco... o seppellirlo per sempre.
Nicole è una donna tosta, nonostante il suo passato traumatico, non si lascia influenzare facendo di tutta un'erba un fascio, ma è disposta a mettere in discussione i suoi ricordi e accettare una verità sulla sua famiglia, che una volta scoperta è tutt'altro che piacevole insieme a tutto quello che le viene tenuto nascosto. Si sente combattuta nei confronti dei sentimenti che prova per Ryker, ma non si tira mai indietro, affronta sempre tutto ad ogni costo a testa alta, pronta ad affrontare le conseguenze delle sue scelte.
Ryker invece tra sensi di colpa, incertezze e la profonda attrazione che prova per lei ci mette un po' a capire cosa vuole veramente e comprendere se stesso.
Il loro rapporto è decisamente hot, come è caratteristico dei personaggi della Ione, ma con un po' di alti e bassi.
Tutti i personaggi secondari sono importanti per creare il quadro d'insieme di questo mondo, sono particolari e interessanti e, spero e non vedo l'ora di leggere il prossimo libro della serie, che credo sia su Hunter il leader del clan MoonBound
Ho trovato originale la teoria sulla nascita dei vampiri che ci mostra la scrittrice in questa serie e anche come avviene il feeding tra vampiri e vampire, diverso dal solito approccio presente nel mondo paranormal.

In Bound in the Night, vampires are immortal creatures, but they are subjugated to the power of humans, they capture and using them as slaves and made experiments with them as guinea pigs. I must say a little bit creepy, even though the story of "human" reality has shown us that the fiction is nothing compared to what we can really do.
We face the eternal clash between the two races, with humans that are not the usual innocent victims, as well as this, then we are also faced with struggles of different clan of vampires.
I liked very much the story and as usual I like Larissa Ione's writing a lot, her characters are always described and represented accurately with their inner conflicttracheite talking are always funny and ironic and her vampires very very hot.

Nicole is a tough woman, despite her traumatic past, she does not affect making a whole herb a bundle, but she's willing to question her memories and accept the truth about her family, once she discovers there are a lot of unpleasant things about them and something more that is kept hidden from her in the present. She fight against her feelings for Ryker, but when the truth is clear she doesn't pull back, ready to face the consequences of her choices.
Ryker, between guilt, uncertainty and the deep attraction he feels for her, takes a bit to figure out what he really wants and understand himself.
Their relationship is very hot, as characteristic for Larissa Ione's characters, but with a bit of ups and downs.
All the characters are important to create the overall picture of this world, are special and interesting and, I hope, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series, which I think is on Hunter the clanleader MoonBound
I found original the theory on the birth of vampires who shows us the author in this series as well as the feeding between Vampires, different from the usual approach in the paranormal world.
