A bad boy wrapped in a sexy, muscled, grown-up package might be worth a little risk…
Molly Webster has always followed the rules. After an ugly scandal tore apart her childhood and made her the focus of the media’s harsh spotlight, she vowed to live an ordinary life. No fame. No impropriety. No pain. Then she meets Zachary Fox, a tattooed bad boy rocker with a voice like whiskey and sin, and a touch that could become an addiction.
A one-night stand with the hottest rock star on the planet, that’s all it was meant to be…
Fox promises scorching heat and dangerous pleasure, coaxing Molly to extend their one-night stand into a one-month fling. After that, he’ll be gone forever, his life never again intersecting with her own. Sex and sin and sensual indulgence, all with an expiration date. No ties, no regrets. Too late, Molly realizes it isn’t only her body that’s become addicted to Fox, but her heart…
Nalini Singh is one of my favorite authors, as evidenced by the presence of her books put in plain evidence in my library.
I must spread a blanket pitifully on editorial choices of publishers in our country which obviously have big problems in knowing how to select the authors to publish, especially when it comes to a series of books.
With Rock Addiction, Ms Singh goes back to write a contemporary romance, after the huge success of international sales of her books paranormal romance of Guild Hunter series and Psy-Changeling. I say go back to contemporary romance, because in reality she started her adventure as a writer with this genre.
Rock Addiction, first book in the Rock Kiss series, amazed me somewhat for its strong erotic component, I didn't expect it, I was surprised, but certainly I'm not complaining, Nalini Singh can be very addictive, always and everywhere.
I appreciated the story written by the author, although the context chosen by her, she's outside of the usual cliche: he is Fox, the male protagonist, a rock star who could have any woman at his feet, to have undergone has very clear ideas about who wants by his side and know what needs to be done to get the attention of the only woman he desires.
He doesn't want to scare her knowing now how serious are his intentions, it might make her escape, and he knows to have some cards in his favor to play: he is irresistible, hot, a little bit forbidden charm, everything that Molly has always tried to avoid. Fox offers a short relationship, a month during which they can explore the attraction they are feeling, time to convince her that he's the right man for her, he wants to make lose her head, and then earn her trust and love and break down all the barriers that Molly has been able to build around herself over time for fear of suffering.
I really liked Fox, it is needless to say, so dama hot, but also a loyal man, brutally honest, stubborn and very protective, a mix that is lethal for me. A character to be discovered, by reading his story and going beyond the surface of things.
Molly does not convinced me much like female protagonist, I'm nit very fond with her... maybe a little too timid for my taste, obsessed with fear of follow father's footsteps, but basically her fear of mass media and their attention towards her and Fox as a couple is more than justifiable given the unfriendly treatment that newspapers had with her when she was a young girl. I liked a lot her ability to get the tune right away with the Fox group, to transmit her warmth and disinterested affection to them, a breath of oxygen for the boys.
Inthe story of this author people around the protagonists always have important and fundamental role in their lives.
I adored the rest of the band, the deep bond that unites them, that fame and money have not scratched, they grew up together, they overcome all adversities, always together, despite their deep differences. They understand Rachele other without words, they protect each other, a real family and Molly became because of Fox. David, Abe and Noah intrigue me a lot, maybe because Ms Singh's characters always have some dark sides, troubled and mysterious.
Definitely a promising series to follow in the future, I expect great things.
Thanks to Netgalley for the book.
