Nel suo villaggio Benton è conosciuto con il soprannome di Bestia, a causa dell'imponenza del suo fisico e dalle cicatrici che lo ricoprono. Benton si è rassegnato da molto tempo a vivere una vita senza amore, nella più completa solitudine. Fino a quando Nissan non entra nella sua vita.

È una ragazza comune, se non addirittura bruttina, ma onesta, sincera e i buon cuore, è giunta tre anni prima nel villaggio per cercare di ricostruirsi una vita tranquilla e felice. È riuscita a ottenere entrambe le cose grazie all'amicizia che è riuscita a instaurare con Benton, ma all'improvviso il ragazzo scompare e arriva un bellissimo, giovane affascinante che comincia a corteggiare Nissa.
Una Fata madrina ha esaudito il desiderio espresso da Benton. Adesso che si è trasformato in un uomo di bell'aspetto e non è più la Bestia, trova il coraggio e la volontà di far innamorare di sé Nissa. Capita però che non esistano solo le cicatrici visibili a occhio nudo in una persona, ma altre ancora più profonde e dolorose impresse nell'anima di una persona. Il passato di Nissa riuscirà a essere dimenticato per lasciar posto a un lieto fine?
Nonostante il racconto breve prenda spunto da una fiaba così conosciuta e più volte utilizzata per crearne nuove versioni, questo racconto breve contiene diversi spunti che lo rendono unico e particolare.
Prima di tutto è una versione per adulti di questa storia d'amore, poi la magia, l'incantesimo utilizzato sono a fin di bene, realizzano il desiderio di una persone, non è una sorta di maledizione. E soprattutto il finale cela un piccolo colpo di scena, inaspettato, quando Benton torna a essere quello che era prima che venisse realizzato il suo desiderio.
La storia di Nissa è dolce e triste allo stesso tempo e Benton è un bellissimo personaggio, nato per far tornare a essere felice e serena questa ragazza. Lui è protettivo, forte coraggioso, riservato, insicuro,un bellissimo puzzle da risolvere, che conquista l'amore e la fiducia di Nissa.
Il racconto è veramente carino da leggere e permeato da una sottile ironia.

A fairy godmother gives Benton his greatest wish. Now that he is a beauty and not a beast, Benton intends to make Nissa fall in love with him. However, scars don’t have to be visible to exist. Will Nissa’s past destroy any chance of their Happily Ever After?
Despite the short story takes cues from a fairy tale so well known and often used to create new versions, this short story contains several picks that make it unique and special.
First of all it is an adult version of this love story, then the magic, the spell is used in a good way, to realize people's wishes, not as a kind of curse. And especially the end hides a small, unexpected twist, when Benton return back to be what he was before it was realised his desire.
Nissa's story is sweet and sad at the same time and Benton is a wonderful character, born to make the girl happy and serene. He is brave, strong, protective, secretive, insecure, a beautiful puzzles to solve, that conquers Nissa's love and trust.
The story is pretty cool to read and permeated by a subtle irony.
